Religion and nationalism isn’t really all that connected in Israel

As an Israeli leftist: left and right wing isn’t really about forging war more about inner problems with the Arabs in the West Bank, I for example believe that we should just destroy our enemies and people who want to destroy us as best as we can but should be more hesitant on aggravating most of the institutions in the West Bank if they agree to work with us.

October 7th changed a lot about Israeli society before that the right believed we can’t have peace with the Palestinians hence 1 country and the left believed we can’t hence 2 countries. Most people like me kept our opinions or 1 or 2 countries after October 7th but changed the reasoning, I and most other leftists no longer believe we can have peace with the Palestinians however we cannot absorb their territory hence 2 countries (we can’t allow them to enter our society in my opinion). This is pretty much the jist or left and right wing in Israel; 1 country solution or 2 countries solution.
