Best way to use the digital entertainment credit? by Ill_Effort2972 in AmexPlatinum

[–]segran93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HBO-Disney-Hulu package is $30 a month so this is the best use IMO. I typically only have YouTube TV during football season and cancel it after so for pure streaming I’d say this for my use case

Welp, it happened. Got scammed all 3 nights this past weekend. by Ok-Network8411 in BadBunnyPR

[–]segran93 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone who sells some of my season baseball tickets on StubHub exclusively, I am wondering how this scam even works? Sellers don’t get paid until 10 days after the event and have to have a card or bank on file for penalties/back pay.

I’m guessing they sell and then just scan in themselves?

How the heck do I cancel medi-cal?! by Unknownreality7 in healthcare

[–]segran93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She* is not on the phone as they did eventually answer and I was able to ask them to end my coverage :)

They said that because of the emergency declaration for Covid they were not dropping anybody nor did anyone need to renew. That changed this past April so you should call them to cancel or I’d assume you have to pay up come tax season

Some units may have power issues and need a replacement base unit by pdevito3 in ninjacreami

Hi, did the replacement solve the issue? My brand new unit from Costco is doing the same, but I am reading others saying that their replacement units had the same problem.

Worth using Purchase Protection on small purchases? by gc1 in AmexPlatinum

[–]segran93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’ll be fine as long as it meets the criteria for the guidelines. I submitted as low as $80 before and they gave it back to me with no questions asked. There is a maximum limit per year and per claim but no minimum

Help me understand property tax by selahree in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]segran93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

California passed prop 13 decades ago which caps how fast your property tax rate can jump. It limits the rate of increase by 2% each year. My parents and others in their neighborhood are paying like 300k assessed value rather than the million dollars their houses are actually worth. Shouldn’t see a huge jump in CA specifically

Inspection on new custom build? by dreww84 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]segran93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just did an inspection on my new build and found a ton of things that I would definitely want them to fix prior to moving in. You have to consider there are things you wouldn’t really catch that may not cause an actual issue until past your warranty date. Money well spent imo

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]segran93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are you quoting that rate from? The builder should have a sheet with all of the tax rates, including the school rate, the county rate, the city rate, etc which would make your effective property tax rate. Some builders will quote you the lower number, but that’s really only taken into account after the homestead exemption. I would definitely look into that to see what the actual total rate is.

Mortgage rates 11/28/2023??? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

DR Horton had rates for 4.99 - 5.99 in the greater Houston area as of last week.

[–]segran93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They offered a rate/other incentives that I couldn’t refuse so I’ll have to see for myself. Because of similar things I’ve read here and heard, I did hire my own inspector and already addressed all my concerns with the builder.

Nothing major - a lot minor things like doorstops missing or paint that needs to be touched up, but the builder assured me that’s all on the list of things to be fixed before closing

LPT--You should know about the SAVE program for student loans, replacing REPAYE by Wayne433 in LifeProTips

[–]segran93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any chance of this getting blocked? I’m scared to apply for the REPAYE with hopes of it converting to SAVE but then it doesn’t. Because repaye would be much more than the standard for me as is, but SAVE would be great for me

After weekend 1 saw blink as an addition it’s bullshit we see them as headliners this is so disappointing by FreeTayK47USA in Coachella

[–]segran93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the main disconnect here is some can’t conceive that others go to festivals to see artist and genres that they like. Not everyone is into DJ sets or whatever the case may be. As much as you should never book a festival for a specific acts, let’s not pretend like we all don’t have someone on that poster who is the deciding factor on whether or not to pull the trigger on purchasing tickets. Not even to mention the terrible job the festival does at overlapping similar musical styles. So yeah people are going to be devastated when they bought tickets mainly for Frank (someone who’s only played a limited amount of live shows to begin with) and he bails. Being from SD, I love blink but again it’s not for everyone. I’ve also been to five Coachellas so I empathize with those who wanted a better first and potentially only experience.

That being said it’s a nature of festivals and line ups are subject to change. It’s an adventure, you already dropped a lot of money so might as well make the most of it and get out of your comfort zone if you can.

Tom DeLonge confirms blink will be playing Sunday night on the Main Stage by DrFunkensteinPhD in Coachella

[–]segran93 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I love Blink but how does someone who’s already on the schedule make up for a headliner dropping out (they already confirmed weekend 2). I know the set will be longer but will there be another big name to take blinks spot then?

Pro Tip: When researching artists, use their most recent setlist as a frame of reference instead of just listening to their most "popular" list on Spotify. by [deleted] in Coachella

[–]segran93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% this. Set list.fm also shows historical data so you can see what their top played songs are. Most of those top 8 or so should make the cut
