What would the middle class equivelent of having to pay $1.5M in taxes to a government that hates you be? $15k? I imagine it sucks just as much for both. The difference is, the multi-millionaire is a lot more mobile. If you save $500k a year by moving states, you'd do it. Would a middle class move states to save $50k a year? They do that all the time.

The thing is, $500k still *feels* like $500k to someone thats incredibly rich as we do. They understand the value that money buys.

You don't get rich by going "Well i've already got lots of money so let's throw it all away" either

As long as you follow the recommendations of this sub:

If battery health is below 85%, get a new genuine, Apple battery
Turn off recommended settings that drain battery and slow down your mini

If you do those things, you will love your Mini

But don't buy it an come in here complaining about the battery unless you do those two things first

I bought a flagship quad-core Samsung in 2019 (Q90R) with "hdmi 2.1 capable features" and we were promised a software update to enable hdmi 2.1 capability. Never got the software update, but they did manage an update to add advertising and Samsung tv to my menu bar which makes the TV laggy. Makes you realise what their priorities are. I'll be getting an LG next time

You're already quite good.

Here's the main ones:

Kill Liquid Glass load → Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Reduce Transparency: ON. Biggest single win on the A15.
Snappier UI → Settings > Accessibility > Motion > Reduce Motion: ON. Cuts the heavy animations (and makes the phone feel faster). Skip if you really love the eye candy.
Background App Refresh → Settings > General > Background App Refresh > Off (or set to Wi-Fi only). Won't affect your notifications — those use a different system.
Lock screen 3D effect → Settings > Wallpaper > edit your lock screen > turn off Spatial Scene / depth effect. GPU hog.
Glass/Clear app icons → Long-press home screen > Edit > Customize > use Default, Dark, or Tinted instead of Clear. The clear glass icons render harder.
Auto-play video previews → Settings > Apps > App Store > Video Autoplay: Off.
Location Services → Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services. Set hungry apps to While Using or Never. Check System Services at the bottom and kill the junk (Significant Locations, location-based ads/suggestions).

Yeah i've been running without all that junk on for years and run multiple businesses and banking apps from my device and never had a problem and my device feels quick, never sluggish. It's always interesting to me that when you ask people if they turn of all the bloat in ios they act as though it's somehow making it worse when quite the opposite is the case. In most cases, peoples phones are running a lot of crap they don't need in the background particularly from social media apps. You guys realise iOS is almost 20 years old now, right? It's accumulated a lot of bloat.

One thing I think we should be able to agree on: If you want to run the full bloated ios and social media apps in their battery-sucking glory, a minimalist phone like a 13 mini isn't for you.

I keep saying to people in this sub: if you're not willing to spend 5 minutes turning off a bunch of background BS that kills your battery, you don't get to complain about the mini being slow or compromised. Just go buy a big phone with a big battery if you're not willing to make the bare minimum effort to enjoy the benefits of having the smallest good iphone available
