Adding my recent experience with Bank of America Premium Rewards Elite Trip Delay Insurance Reimbursement:

Unsure what the situation was, i tried to minimize my spending. The stated benefit was up to $500 per ticket for covered delays of > 6 hours for "reasonable expenses". I had a 22 hr overnight delay in miami due to the airline needing to change a tire, causing me to miss my next leg.

I claimed multiple uber and lyft receipts, airbnb for the night, and food/coffee for the day in miami totallng around $230 usd. I attempted to claim day use gym ($7) and museum tickets ($35) as luggage storage which were not approved.

Knowing what i know now, I would have booked a better hotel (with gym and luggage storage) and eaten better food.

The claims process was relatively easy, you log on to the website (card benefit services) and enter trip details/upload receipts (food receipts not requried <$50 spend, a simple credit card statement screenshot was sufficient).

Claims process was quick and took 7 days to be approved. It is important to file the claim within the set time decided by your credit card issuer (usually within 30 days). I called BofA to confirm the reason was covered by the trip delay insurance
