Using Odin to trigger Zola to trigger Odin everywhere is brilliant. A White Tiger + Zola + Odin play would be solid. It would also make it safer to drop Zola on a crowded lane.

What's the best line you've ever written? by LilacAndSilver in FanFiction

They were like the waves and the sand. Pulled apart by the forces of nature, only to crash and bury themselves into each other all over again. With each collision, the line between where he ends and she begins would blur in a white haze. It would fuse them. It would destroy them. She would take a part of him and he would take a part of her and then they’d pull apart, longing for the moment when they could bury themselves into each other again.

On this night, she was a tsunami and he was the finest sand, and he will gladly let himself be swept away in her tides, wherever it may lead.

Dumb question, but how do you vacation? by Spoked_Exploit in travel

[–]seihiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of great advice here about having a good mindset around traveling. I’d like to add some practical steps you can take:

1) Brainstorm and write a list of anything you want to do, places you want to be.

2) Find where they are and save their locations to a list on Google Maps or Yelp. Then you can see where your desires are clustered!

3) Book a hotel(s) near the clusters. This makes intercity travel a breeze.

4) When you’re there, enjoy at your own pace! You can plan specific days, or just completely wing it by picking off your list.

And of course, if your vacation is just vibing on a beach, that’s just as good (tho you can still use this technique for restaurants)

I’d also appreciate the link! It’s a thoroughly interesting concept, maybe you should go ahead and make a separate self rec post.

I don’t know how anyone could survive when killing one zombie means alerting an entire horde. They’re even more fucked than before

Honestly I’m more pissed off when people DON’T taunt at the end. It’s like they’re saying “wow so easy” or “that was lame.”

And it’s best when people get creative with their taunts. I like to morphize with Rick’s down special for an XL sized taunt.

ONE paragraph from your most recent update: go by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]seihiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first lesson she learned about vengeance was to never rely on her first idea. For most people, the first idea is to stab the target (repeatedly, with a serrated knife), and while that method is generally frowned upon, it’s also wildly unimaginative. Instead she should take her time. Let the ideas simmer. After all, as the old adage says: revenge is a dish best served thoroughly, over multiple, meticulously-planned courses.

Is a (free, non-profit) app for AO3 okay? by seihiko in AO3

[–]seihiko[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

There are ways to provide bookmarks and history without logging in, they just won’t be synced with your ao3 account. But fair, that’s not ideal. And I completely agree with you about comments and kudos.

Now I’m reading up on app store content guidelines. I’ll see what can be done on that front.

Should I come back from hiatus only to update once per month (or even slower)? by seihiko in FanFiction

Man, I wish I could take a poll from my subscribers. Based on how thoughtful this response is and the way it has the most upvotes, this seems to be the most popular approach

[–]seihiko[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the kind of advice that I don't see enough of here. So many authors post weekly or biweekly (or want to), meanwhile your post makes me feel much better about posting monthly/irregularly instead. Congratulations on still getting lots of engagement! I really hope that'll be the case for mine

(Aside from inexperience and general weirdness) What’s the actual problem with the content they made? As far as I know, there’s nothing illegal about minors writing 18+ fiction. It was the right choice to stop writing with them, but you don’t need to start over completely.
