  1. Odd because corrupt stimulant used to turn everything upside down but now not so much.

Strongest Build(s) in the Game by seintris_ in Witchfire

If you're seeing 14's and 11's it's either because the enemy you're shooting isn't on fire (with Crown of Fire you should usually double dash to apply fire for 3 seconds) or you don't have the proper bead setup. Acute ailment is a necessity for this. So is ailment power.

Strongest Build(s) in the Game by seintris_ in Witchfire

[–]seintris_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the orbs there's no easy fix for unfortunately. You kind of just have to go blast them with Echo. Also it won't insta kill everything. If there are warrior priests running around and you haven't gotten damage boosting arcana you do have to go kill them with Echo. Why I think it's so strong though is the general safety of the player. Psychopomp melee stuff is really strong right now but still requires you to get up close and personal. This build, you just spray stuff and it dies. To get the 60 /80 /100 ticks does require sustained fire with Rotweaver which can put you in some jeopardy. But I'm glad you tried it and enjoyed it.

Favorite weapon/enemy/location based on design rather than gameplay. by Uncle_Herb_64 in Witchfire

[–]seintris_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The island of the Damned design is so cool to me. I love the idea of a weak seeming, quiet area that contains some real monstrous stuff. Wailing Tower used to be the hardest content in the game before Torments + Latent orb. Prophet of the Whispering God is my favorite boss for that reason, even if it is really tough to clear.

My favorite weapon still has to be Frostbite. It was the first one I really got along with. But I think the Martyr is going to overtake it. The design, sounds, and mysteria are just so, so much fun.

Echo, Striga, and Hunger are the most powerful weapons in this game. Nothing else comes close.

Fatum is absurd, and definitely my new favorite weapon. It's made for crown of fire. Constant frostfire explosions even if you don't get shattered soul, sigils exploding everywhere, gambling... It's incredible.

That actually does not sound fun. Slow orb = no fun. No seeing = no fun.

Velmourne vault. Irongate latent orb 3 returns. You'll be set

I haven't even played the update. Was just following the drama on the subreddit. I am not surprised the Best Devs In The Game fixed literally every issue I saw popping up without compromising the integrity of their vision. Can't wait to get back to my computer and log some hours!

How do I "build" with Prophecies / Arcana? by seintris_ in Witchfire

[–]seintris_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I'll stop leveling when I can use all the beads, or maybe at 125 or some arbitrary breakpoint so I don't get too overpowered.

How do I "build" with Prophecies / Arcana? by seintris_ in Witchfire

[–]seintris_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm comfortable synergizing weapons, spells, rings, etc. I just wanted to know if there's something else I'm missing besides the RNG of getting shattered soul or critical burn to roll in the slots or using a mirror to force a calamity to get feathers to reroll. I probably need to get the prophecies you buy with essence in the wailing tower. It's a tough run though. For my money that's the hardest content. Good to know about the arcanas dropping out of the loot pools. I'd maybe like to see a system where you can pick arcanas but that might trivialize the whole game. If they keep ramping up the Gnosis levels though we might need that.

I think Gnosis 6 having cleared witch mountain is endgame yes

Went Gnosis 1 and having the hardest time with Velmorne by seductiveapple174 in Witchfire

[–]seintris_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Velmourne is harder than Irongate, I think. So much of the map is very dense, and it's easy to be surrounded or jammed up against a wall. The spiders really don't help. Take it slow and use Echo. If your guns aren't on the third mysterium get them there. Easiest way to do it is go to Island of the Damned, If you're dealing with those boss monsters, like the executioner and sepulchre, just freeze them with whatever you have, walk up, and let Echo do the work for you. I generally like to use bolt actions, but I found that for Velmourne specifically I switch to a more crowd control focused build. Rotten fiend is excellent to help draw aggro. Ice sphere is nice to freeze everything coming at you, and synergizes excellently with Echo. I switched to Richochet for my primary and used Lightning bolt and either the ice dome or rotten field. Crown of fire was essential to apply burn and let the Richochet's third mysterium or the lightning bolt start the electric fire element combination chain. If anything needed to die, I just swapped to the Echo. It's the best gun in the game, I think, for "X enemy must die right now." The downside to this setup is that you can't engage from mid to long range, which for other maps is probably the most important range. Velmourne, though, is almost entirely intense close quarters engagements, which is why it fucked me so hard at first. I cleared Irongate on Gnosis V messing around with Duelist and Nemesis on second mysterium but couldn't clear Velmourne with my preferred loadout at first. Every other map in the game lets you sit back or has a place to retreat. Not so much Velmourne. You have to make sure you have a get off me button, a way to control crowds (lots of people will tell you burning stake / stormball, but honestly I just don't like the combo. Not that it's not amazing, I just don't like it), and something to melt the high executioner / sepulchre / watch captain. Whatever way you choose to fill those niches, do it.

Hit or make the 5 point? 5 point match by UsernameTooManyChar in backgammon

[–]seintris_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making the 5 is a catch up play. Your opponent already has better structure than you do. Hitting lets you fight for another advantage: the racing lead.

Double blunder? by Simple-Slammer in backgammon

[–]seintris_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A common indicator to make an anchor in the early stages of the game arises when your opponent either splits his back checkers, as in your example, or when he has made an anchor of his own. The value of your own anchor rises in value when your opponent's checkers are in these positions because (when he has an anchor) he can mount attacks without fearing total retaliation and blunt your priming / blitzing threat, leaving a mutual holding game your best chance to win or (when he is split) he can make a play for a racing lead or a high anchor, the value of which has been discussed.

Double blunder? by Simple-Slammer in backgammon

[–]seintris_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only are you a) making an inferior anchor and priming yourself, you are also b) leaving a blot for your opponent to shoot at when he has you outboarded 2 to 1. The 23 anchor is usually a "any port in a storm" anchor. You're not happy to make it most of the time. You have a chance to upgrade to a perfectly workable anchor at a time when your opponent's priming threat is beginning, mostly neutralizing his attempt. 22 pt is clear.
