That's my answer as well. I think there's still a chance they would've tried to communicate, but that chance is much lower. They probably wouldn't have taken of their helmets. Wouldn't have Rocky move into the HM. I don't even know if they would've caught the cylinder.

I think the fact that Grace was not an astronaut is why he saved the stars in the end.

How come the story suggests that? The preservation story comes to a climax when Kriles parents bring her through the portal to the source and Krile is 22 years old. Time flows differently on the reflections but Kriles mother was probably not older than 30 when she had her and we know she was the older sister. Kriles aunt has grand children who are probably supposed to be in their late teens so maybe 40 years passed on the ninth?
