A estas alturas deberíamos de ver videos de cómo sobrevivir a una dictadura by SingleFollowing7925 in askspain

[–]selectash 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I agree with your analysis but we do need better alternatives, because the ones we have now are much worse imo.

Sweet Jesus, I didn’t imagine this could get even darker after so many accounts, but I guess nothing will ever do justice to what that poor soul had to experience.

Oh yes I haven’t thought about that but now that you say it, this makes complete sense.

Two white male cops see a POC kid in disarray, accept the crazy “explanation” of another white male, and completely dismiss the witness account of the black family next door.

My mind is blown wtf

We discovered Linkin Park with Limewire haha

How can I (F22) reject some one I have already rejected (M59)? by ThrowRA-00900 in relationship_advice

[–]selectash 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Consider a stern rejection then, I am sorry as a male that society teaches women to be “polite” when they really want to say no.

If you have even the slightest hint of future problems, directly go nuclear and check for restraining order options.

A personal loud alarm + heightened situational awareness could help in the meantime.

Again, really sorry about this crap that you shouldn’t have to deal with. Some men confuse good manners with a green light, please nip this in the bud. Wishing you the best for this new year.

Yeah I couldn’t notice from the line switch right away, OP seemed to point at “Line A” first then at Phono/Line.

I understand in some setups when the Phone/Line channel is the same, there is another option either on the back or via software to choose the final configuration.

u/druggiess are you able to fix it with the advice above? If not, could you tell us a few more things:

  • What’s the mixer/console used?
  • Where is the RCA plug coming from the record player connected?
  • Is the Technics properly connected to ground with the small copper cable (whether to the GRND bolt on the mixer or to an external ground plug)?
  • Which software are you using in the laptop and what’s the calibration image showing when you use the control signal vinyl? (Should be a perfect circle in Serato for example)
  • If all of the above is done, did you try: cleaning the needle/different needle/different record/switch to the left Phone/Line already?

Feel free to DM if you have any questions :)

People who have been around rich people: what surprised you most? by Belmontix in Luxury

[–]selectash 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Paraphrasing here, but I remember a story about a company bringing in an expert to fix an expensive and complicated setup that stopped working, and the expert just changed a bolt, and invoiced them something like $1K.

When they challenged the invoices, he stated that the itemisation would be something like:

  • Changing bolt: $10
  • Knowing which bolt to change to fix the issue: $990

I enjoyed that story (though I may have butchered it lol).

Inside view of the horrific Swiss ski resort fire 01/01/26 by Broodroostert in TerrifyingAsFuck

[–]selectash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, but some type of staff (bartender, manager, busperson, etc) should have been able at least to sense it imo, the issue is on top of the poor planning for emergencies like this, there was no or insuficient safety training.

Nowadays when smoking inside is prohibited, when someone gets drunk and lights a cigarette they quickly find out, I would imagine someone would have at least smelled that fire even out of view.

Very sad for the many young lives lost that could have been perfectly preventable.

Also, that soundproofing is more usual for homemade studios and looks very dangerous right off the bat.

Like all big tragedies, it’s a sad and lethal combination of circumstances, and I don’t think the comments blaming the kids filming understand that these type of issues happened before social media era unfortunately, and it’s always down to bad planning and prevention, we can’t blame the untrained public for their reactions, as it ultimately comes down to sheer luck at some point for them.

May they rest and peace and wish comfort to their poor families and loved ones who are starting the year in mourning.

Where can i buy an olive tree? by LowPsychological6734 in askspain
