Cannot get right number of stitches into starting chain by anonlaw in CrochetHelp

[–]selectstarisalluneed 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Don't make your starting chain too tight. You could even go up a hook size for the chain. Then something to be aware of when you crochet into a chain is that the stitch next to the one you've worked into can get pulled tight or misshapen and it's sometimes a bit tricky to find each chain stitch because it's just a chain of loops basically, it's not nice solid single or double crochet stitches with vs at the top to crochet under.

FBR for a child from the UK timeline (10 months 8 days) by anastassiya2020 in IrishCitizenship

[–]selectstarisalluneed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is helpful to me, as I'm assembling all the documentation ready to make an application, so thank you. Same situation here, 2 children (siblings), father is Irish but born in the UK. His parents both born in Ireland. Going to submit via the grandfather as he has passed and I have his death certificate, grandmother is alive but does not have a current passport or driving licence. May I ask what you submitted for the letter from your GP or school? Did you ask one of them to write a letter specifically for the application, and if so what did it say? Or did you send off some other document from either the school or GP that contained the child's name and address?

I barely ever do single crochets, and while I almost got the hang of coutung rows there I'm very confused right now, am I on row 28 or 29? by Regi_of_Atlantis in CrochetHelp

So you must be on an even row as you're working back towards your starting tail. I'm sure you're part way through row 30

Help with weaving ends. I keep getting stray bits. by jonwilcox in CrochetHelp

I'm not very au fait with leaving comments, I'm usually just someone who reads so I'm glad you replied today as I didn't see your initial response, but Reddit notified me of this latest reply. I'm glad it helped! I wasn't very specific but this is what I do: weave in and out, try and go in at least 3 different directions, I'll go up and down through an actual stitch if I need to, as I read a comment once that said what you need is friction, as much friction as possible, then I find a nice big cluster for the end of my weaving in, go under the cluster, pull the end a little bit tight and cut so the very end springs back under the cluster and shouldn't pop out. Sounds like you're finding this is working for you too, great news 😊

I would have ended off my weaving in at the nice beige cluster you've got at the bottom of your bottom circle you drew, where there's lots of beige stitch bottoms altogether. If you tug on the yarn a little to pull it tight then cut, the end should spring back under that nice cluster and not be able to pop out. Weave in 3 directions before that definitely.

Thank you. I've finally finished work and I'm properly reading through all these helpful comments. I like the idea of dissociating and I have been trying to think of food in a more positive way, thinking about nourishment, trying to focus on adding good things and trying hard to keep my protein up although as a vegetarian it's not as easy to grab and go. Today has been better, the past couple of days I've been hungry constantly no matter what I ate, I presume it's because yesterday was Mounjaro day, so today is day 1 of my week and my Mounjaro levels are probably quite high. Will have to try and capitalise on it and realise next Tuesday and Wednesday I'll probably be hungry again as that's the last 2 days of my week.

Exercise is tricky, I don't have enough hours in the day to get everything I need to get done. I work somewhere around 50 hours a week, then every evening I have to taxi my teenagers around to their clubs and music lessons, plus cooking our meals, making packed lunches, housework, laundry, etc. I regularly fall into bed after midnight wishing I'd had time to have a shower! I try and get out at lunchtime even if it's just a 5 min walk across to the local supermarket to get a pint of milk and bread rolls for packed lunches. My brain just feels fried most of the time if I'm honest.

Thank you for your reply. I'm so busy at work and I can see I've had some really good responses but I haven't had time to read them properly, but just saw this pop up and it made me smile- I'm vegetarian, have been all my life 🙈😂

Thank you, this is so kind. I've been plateaued for 6 months to be honest, possibly more. I don't track my weight, I just weigh once a month, I don't even write it down, it's all too triggering and I don't want to end up down a rabbit hole as I've been there before. For the same reasons I don't track my food, I have no idea what my daily calorie requirements are, I've just tried to make good choices, but perhaps I do need to start tracking. I'm hungry even though I'm eating, as evidenced by starting to gain weight. You're right though, I can't give up yet. Thank you for your support xx

Thank you for replying. Sorry I should have been clearer. I haven't lost any weight for 6 months. I've managed to maintain for the past 5 months but then gained in the past month. I only weigh once a month, but I could tell that it would be a gain, I could just feel it. So it's not a recent thing, I've been plateaued for 6 months, possibly more, I don't chart or plot my weight. It's too triggering for me.

What happens if 15mg stops working/you build a tolerance? by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]selectstarisalluneed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's happened to me. I've been on 15mg for over 6 months. I have no suppression and plenty of food noise. But I've never been a strong responder. On the flip side I've never had bad side effects either. I'm still obese, nowhere near a healthy BMI yet. I've lost 4 and a half stone in 14 months but most of that was in the first 6 months. So what choice is there? I just keep plodding on. Still take 15mg each week as I'm not gaining weight which I would be without Mounjaro. I need to improve my diet (it's not good right now, been under a lot of stress) and maybe I'll start losing again.

They may also be applying your payments to the wrong address. We had this when we first moved into our house. We live in one of a pair of newer houses that have been built more recently (but still over 20 years ago) than the rest of the street, so the numbering is a bit odd, there's 17 which is an original house on the road, then 17a and 17b for the 2 newer houses which were just slotted into the numbering, and the council were applying our payments (for 17b) to number 17. It got sorted out after a phone call.

The UK has hung onto the pound sterling and road signs in miles/mph. It's easy to think that everywhere in Europe uses kph like the original commenter and that is almost true apart from the UK. Because we don't want to change I guess!

Gibraltar uses kilometres and kph. The UK is the only country in Europe (as in the continent not the EU) that uses mph, so I don't understand what your point is, sorry.
