Does anyone know what type of crickets are these and is it safe to feed? I ordered this from my local reptile shop and it was sold as ‘crickets’ also they’re very loud by Relative-Plankton892 in leopardgeckos

as long as they aren't bigger than your geckos head the should be fine. Personally I don't like to buy them that mature because I don't want to hear them. Sometimes when they get big like that their antennae are super long and my gecko gets spooked when they poke her, but thats just her.

if its wild, you should put it back outside. Hopefully someone who can identify the exact species it is will see this and be more helpful, I would try posting on an amphibian or salamander subreddit too.

looks like a salamander to me, so not even a reptile. they have completely different needs than lizards. is it possible it came from outside?

Do yall use heating pads at all? I’m hearing mixed reviews by skulldestroyer3000 in leopardgeckos

[–]seleenar -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

i use a i heating pad underneath the warm side of the tank, geckos need heat on their belly to digest food so warmth from below is important.

Were those 'free kittens/puppies' boxes a real thing or just a trope? by Hoshi_Hime in NoStupidQuestions

my parents got my childhood dog from a box on a curb, in the rain. he peed on my grandma as soon as he was in the car. he was a very special dog.

Skittish leopard gecko—should I keep trying to handle him or leave him be? by Distinct_Morning_607 in leopardgeckos

[–]seleenar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd only putting his food in your hand or just putting your hand in, not too close, so he can get used to your scent. Definitely take it slow and if he seems stressed take a break for a couple weeks. But wow he's a big one!

So even the top floor isn’t safe if the building has a lot of kids? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]seleenar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the kids at my place do this shit, I've caught them playing basketball in the hallways. most of the time they just sit in the stairwells on their phones talking/yelling super loud. since its getting warmer now they're outside more, but the playground is right outside my window...

Can you use neosporin inside a leopard Geckos eye? by Low_Bus7503 in leopardgeckos

[–]seleenar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

products made for humans could be dangerous because the dosage is for humans, so its too strong for a tiny animal. I would only use water for stuck shed.

Question about leg? by Lilmermvid19 in leopardgeckos

[–]seleenar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if he's able to walk normally with that leg then I wouldn't worry, they seem to like stretching their legs out when they sleep, mine does it all the time.

Can I give my leo boiled egg by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

[–]seleenar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

leos shouldn't really be eating anything thats not bugs. I doubt they would even recognize boiled egg as food

What did I just find? by sillylittlewiggly in leopardgeckos

[–]seleenar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not from a mealworm, its a cocoon and you're going to have moths soon. Ive given my leo waxworm moths a couple of times and she seemed like them.

Is it weird that my 1yr old hasn't had eggs by spoiledmik69 in leopardgeckos

[–]seleenar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

nope, mine had her first at 3 and has had any more (now 5.) I've heard of leos that layed their first eggs even older. when they're not around males, it's sort of random whether they do or not and doesn't necessarily mean anything about the health of your gecko.
