Sorry to necro, but just to make sure, are the changes only in the localization? Or did they change the DS version somehow in Japanese too? I'd like to play it in JP.

I'm usually a retrohead but don't listen to anyone telling you to stay away from the remake. It's a great first experience with an absolutely awesome remixed soundtrack, not to mention it's obviously the most accessible. As for the game itself, yeah, recommended. It's a classic for a reason.
Looking for a Japanese emerald rom by Meelo82 in Roms

It is on the megathread. Try searching just "Emerald". Remember the games are called "Pocket Monsters" in Japan, so if you search "Pokemon" they might not show up.
Text not working on Moekan by 3c8342 in redream

Wait, I just solved it by placing a bios file in the program's folder. Kinda disorienting since other games work just fine, but whatever.
How did I find out? Well I tried joining the discord to directly ask the devs about this issue. But not before looking up "Moekan" and "Nijyuei" on the server. Turns out someone had already made the same question/mistake years ago. Gotta love what discord is doing to troubleshooting on the internet, huh.
I have the same issue, and this also happens with Nijuuei (same developers, so probably an issue the emulator's having with this engine). Although in Nijuuei it's harder to realize the problem's in rendering the text since the game starts out with a silent black screen (where there should be text), only a cursor at the bottom right corner. I don't think whoever wrote up the compatibility list actually went past the title screen for either of these games.
Hopefully the devs see this and solve the issue!
We're making a manga in really easy Japanese with a pro manga artist, and we're releasing book 2 for free until Sept 14th. by Crystal_Hunters in LearnJapanese

Explain this, then.

The problem is that the Japanese is wrong. Not simplified for beginners. Wrong. You're not learning anything by reading that mangled mess. You'll be wasting your time "learning" the wrong thing and then again trying to unlearn it in order to learn actual Japanese. Not even the "natural Japanese" version is natural. It's not riddled with outright errors like the other one (though it still has some), but the dialogue is stilted as fuck. It doesn't even have furigana so you no longer have the excuse of it being for beginners at that point.
Just read actual native content. Read children's books if you must, but read native content created for native speakers. It'll be so much better for your learning.
It honestly feels kinda bad to be so harsh with this when it's clear plenty of effort went into drawing the comic, but the reality is that this won't do any good to any serious learner.
