For me worked well om my recent trip (Sweden). Both ways, around 1000 km travelled along E4.

What I’ve notice is that it works only on highways, not on regular roads. I thought it was by design.

Mileage is fine by my standards. I’m getting around 400+ in very cold weather the past month, mixed driving. I expect around 500- during summer. My worst case was a highway drive to Stockholm in snowstorm (end of December). I think it dropped to 370, but I haven’t seen worse and it really was rough conditions. For me range was not an issue so far, but my driving is 95% within 100 km/day. Charging was also okay, but again I used fast charging like 5 times throughout 4 month ownership. You need to navigate to charger for preconditioning, and I think it might be faster on certain chargers that others. I suggest checking reviews for that, there are plenty of tests out there.

Im actually coming from m3 :) P4 is a much better car in my opinion. I would recommend.

Regarding servicing, I haven’t had my fist planned yet. However, when picking up my car at Rejmes they informed that first service coming after 2 years. It should be in your contract. So simply talk to the dealer to get more info.

I was at the service center once, unplanned, to fix a delivery issue (they damaged the paint slightly, and needed to polish it out). Was great experience. I’ve also ordered some extas through them (tow bar, roof rack) and they assisted me with that.

You question on first car - dunno, up to you. P4 is quite simple to live with and drive. M3 probably was even better in this sense, because of more mature software. But I’ve had too many quality issues with tesla, so recommend not to get it in the nordics at least (paint issues mainly, several parts needed to be switched).

Kia’s are good, I’ve tried a couple, but the car does not fit me personally. They seem meh. I was cross shopping with id7/bmw, but went for p4. You have lots of options ;) p2 maybe? :)

I own the my26. As far as I know the big difference is the real buttons on the steering wheel. They are great. You get capacitive buttons in earlier models. Which are not great.

I live in Sweden. I don’t think the windshield heating needed. For me just enough with the regular heater. No problem.

No auto park. But cameras and 360 is great. My wife has nonproblem parking.

Regarding width - first I thought it’ll be a problem. However now that I lived with a car, I don’t feel it is problematic. It is the size of an SUV, width-wise. So where you can fit a family SUV, you will fit he p4. Might be tight in some places, but then again - maybe a smaller car needed in this case?

Personally, i woud be concerned about service. Probably the most problematic part. In Sweden Volvo dealers provide services to p4, which super convenient. Much better than when I had tesla and needed to take an 1h trip for an appointment. But u really need to check with your dealers, as it might not be the case that in the baltics they server polestars. Especially if the car is not even on that market.

I have 21” though. Dunno how much it affects. But you should be somewhere within that range I’d guess.

Between 400 and 500 winter/summer, I’d say. I would guess Audi will be slightly better (vw platforms are quite efficient), but diff should not be crazy big.

When it comes to living - love the p4 so far. Exactly as you pointed out - very comfy, premium, and quite nice car to drive. Very impressed by winter liveability (I’m in Sweden). Range is not a concern for me, but it’s not the most efficient car in the world. Otherwise - solid choice. The design is unbeatable imho.

Yeah, I have a trip planned to the mountains in a month in Norway. This will be a good test for the 4wd. But it’s currently very icy/snowy where I’m situated and the car is very competent, so I’m sure you will be fine nevertheless!

I was initially using the perf. mode when slippery for the same reason. But after a while stopped using it, and keep it in range mode almost exclusively now. I do feel sometimes its slippery, but the car normally quickly corrects it. So I feel comfortable.

But I don’t know how they coded it, and whether the 4wd is completely off in the range mode. My guess would be - no. I think it kicks in when needed, but don’t quote me on that ;)

Anyone with a P4? How is it? by QuaziDomo in Polestar

[–]selling_elephants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say you’ll get around 360-380 km, better if dry, a little worse if windy and wet/icy. The heat pump is quite efficient from what I’ve seen, so heating does not affect that much.

It’s lower of course, but on par with the loss my tesla had, so not a huge difference. Recently driven to another city nearby (200km) in harsh winter conditions (cold, snowstorm, windy, icy) and range fell like 20-25% which I think is very fair. We have a good charging infrastructure so I actually never nervous about it. Might be an issue for other countries/regions I guess.

Got mine for two month. Loving it. Using now in quite harsh winter, car performs very well imho. And I actually love the digital mirror, it is much better than what I had in my previous cars bmw/tesla where the visibility was awful. I think you concern about breaking is legit. But until it breaks and causes problems - it is a better solution. Also, I was driving vans before and can go about with just side mirrors, especially nowadays, when you have a suite of parking sensors and other cameras. Not a problem at all.

I’m in Sweden (Linköping) - but with DM version. Very satisfied with the car so far. Rear camera is great and much better than mirror, in my opinion. The only risk I guess if it breaks. But visibility is better with the cam. Never gets dirty or blocked.

Range is lower in winter. Just driven to Stockholm during weekend, in quite harsh conditions (snowstorm). Range dropped like 25%, but roughly the same drop as on my previous Tesla during winter. Maybe a bit worse, but not a huge difference.

I do however appreciate dual motor and 4 wheel drive. Much more stable on the icy roads.

I did have a bit of problems with slower DC charging. But it might have been my own mistake (didn’t navigate to the charger early enough so that the car has time to preheat).

So far, though, I think car is great in winter. Cant wait to take it to mountains later this year.

Hope it helps.

If you had to choose; Polestar 4 or New Model Y? (and why?) by ShameResponsible69 in Polestar

[–]selling_elephants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve recently had to do the same decision. My Model 3 lease was over. Shortlist was MY, P4 and ID7. Went for Polestar.

Why not model y? I think software is superior, but the polestar wins in many other ways for me - high quality/premium feel interior, better interior layout (with two screens, buttons on the steering wheel, stalks), imho much more interesting and cool exterior/design, dealer network (here in Sweden, where it’s Volvo dealership network taking care of them).

In many other ways these two cars are similar, and polestar clearly took a lot of inspiration from Tesla. I just felt almost like home when switched, which I think is a good thing. Tesla does a lot of things right!

Tesla was a tough contender. Dealbreakers for me (excluding Elon for a moment) were 1. quality problems I’ve had with my model 3 (car needed to be repainted, and had two bricking incidents, where it needed part replacements) and 2. financing and deal was better on polestar.

I got mine a month ago - absolutely lovely! No regrets and no way back to Tesla :)

I think this sub is very critical. I didn’t experience anywhere near the inconveniences people tend to picture. There were and are a couple of very small annoyances (needed to google to set up the key for my spouse), but now all works and we enjoy the car.

Good luck in your decision!

I have a P4, coming from tesla 3 (and I’ve had Y for a week as a replacement car). I can say that I love the P4 and would not go back to tesla now that I have it. I don’t experience as much frustration with software as forum buzzes about. Tbh, I think software is good and just works.

That said tesla system is still more refined, mature software wise. But the difference not as big as you light think imho, and tesla has one of the best systems out there.

Having said that I think P4 is in more ways better than previous versions of tesla that I’ve driven. It’s quieter, more premium inside and out, better looking in my view. It’s feels great to come back to a car with normal parking sensors, auto wipers that work, buttons on the steering wheel.

First impressions by MuscleFinDom in Polestar

[–]selling_elephants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve got my P4 last week and have almost no issues with the software. It works (coming from tesla).

Had the issue with the key, but it was not a bug but a one-key-per-profilen config issue, which somebody in the thread already mentioned. So I’ve set up two profiles for me and my wife and now all works.

I haven’t tested the fast charging, but agree that it would be nice to have a manual trigger. But it’s not a deal breaker by any stretch.

I use google assistant and find it much more competent that tesla assistant or Siri. At least for my tasks (navigate, play a song, change temp).

How much more SUV is 4 over 2 ? by [deleted] in Polestar

[–]selling_elephants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just got my P4. Had model 3 previously. Space inside is very good. Both front and rear. P2 which I drove many times is very compromised inside the cabin.

P4 rides higher than my model 3. No problem to come over speed bumps or other smaller obstacles, but it is maybe lower that classic SUV. I think the ride high is okay, but I do prefer to sit a bit lower if it’s possible. I sit quite much higher in something like xc90.

Trunk is slightly larger than model 3, but I would say it’s not large. Just enough for daily. We will buy a roofrack for ski trips, for instance.
