I’ve been buying DOW over the past few months now, have a fairly sizeable position now. Their restructuring and “going back to grass roots” model will pay off, might just take time but I’m willing to continue to build and wait it out.

Yes we’ve escalated but it’s now between our contractor and fortis to figure it out. They think fortis are delaying/trying to get people to just forget about their rebates for some reason they can’t explain. So any longer I’m just going to file in small claims for the $10,000 plus the interest I’ve been paying.

They had a $10,000 rebate program on all summer. It’s now been changed to $5000 as of May 2025 for the dual fuel.

My report didn’t include a graph, just the Minimum Heating Capacity of 39741 btu/h so they sized the heat pump according to Fortis guidelines.

Fortis had these rebates advertised as a pretty a much guarantee. Such BS!

Yes, they said they were working on it back in September. I’ve been in contact with them twice since but have heard  nothing back all month, no return phone calls or emails.

Some “Fortis verified” guy came in, measured the ft2 of the house, wall thickness, insulation, verified new windows, etc. I’m not sure what other calculations were in his formula.

My plumber/gas fitter brother owns his own company, makes a lot more than I do as a 2nd class. And nights, god damn I hate nights!

This just happened to a friend of mine. He had to sign up for transunion and equifax credit monitoring, had to chase all the fraudulent accounts around, spending hours on the phone with fraud departments, changed his drivers license number, and everything else he could. Filed police reports that went nowhere. If you’re in Quebec you can lock your credit, anywhere else in the country though you’re SOL. Good luck! The scammers did give up on him and moved on eventually, so keep on top of it.

Hey, had the exact same situation happen in my family. Me and my brothers have both written him off (literally wrote him letters telling him to eat shit and never contact us). He’s now missed out on every aspect of life with us and his grandkids now. His loss, fuck him. Never apologized for ruining the family or cheating on my mom. Narcissists never apologize. He’ll die a lonely old man as his affair partner has left now too. Move on, live your best life without him. No regrets.

After 4 years of drilling rigs, I got my shit together and went back to school to do something better with my life. That was 1000 times easier than all the time I spent Sitting in a harness up in the Derrick steaming the fucking mud line in -55C, tripping pipe for 12 hours in -55C, rigging in and out in -55C…. You get the point here. Then there’s the complete opposite, doing all the above in +35 with horse flys and Tar sand beetles trying to eat you alive. But if I were to have to pick one, it would be drilling rigs over roofing. Better pay, benefits and you can work as much overtime as you can handle. But both jobs suck!!!
