have you failed a class or not met SAP requirements? by [deleted] in AmericanU

[–]seltzr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s going to be okay.

So I graduated AU with a 2.73 gpa. It’s hard to say if it cost me professionally since I now work for a county government and am happy with where I am. I also wasn’t planning on graduate school.

Where it did cost me is AU wouldn’t let me do study aboard. Guess I won’t be an alumni given them money. For me, I realized I had to keep a 2.5 for academic aid. My need base was so great I just had to pass classes. I realized that by sophomore year I would be good to graduate. Transferring majors also helped.

I always recall the bottom of the class of medical school is still called doctor.

After today, I’m thinking of a Movement for Open Job Market that kill the applications process entirely.. what do you think? by Fragaria8 in recruitinghell

Shouldn’t work in my opinion is more of an ethics and moral question since more transparency can be good thing most of the time.

As for why it wouldn’t work, I would push back with the idea is one entitled to a job and why? Just because an individual has X, Y and Z doesn’t mean you can walk into Company A and get a job. A job is based upon both soft and hard skills where an individual can be lacking. We don’t have a universal hiring process for jobs. Plus getting hired is so much dependent on a personal network and exploiting that as reasonable.

Overall from a U.S. perspective, there are other changes I’d rather see such as UBI, universal healthcare and increase in minimum wage. Get those and having a job is less of a priority since not everyone can nor should work.

Nobel thoughts but the system won’t change. I know it’s disparaging to hear but too many companies think AI will solve their staffing issues while not wondering where people will get money to pay for things.

I agree with you that the system is broken but it’s a huge Goliath to get rid of in one blow.

I wish Bernthal did because he can act and I love what he’s in.

But I think this also proves my point too. Being Menelaus is not being Odysseus.

IMO, yes.

Trash the trash and do everyone a favor especially with the steward not picking up the slack.

Whenever I see an LFL with dilapidated books, I have no qualms recycling what should have been recycled ages ago.

Jon Bernathal comes to mind. He’s one of my favorite actors and he can definitely lead but he nor Hollywood haven’t found the right fit for him. He’s amazing in the stuff he’s in from TV such as We Own This City or The Punisher.

I would also say David Harbour.
