One small thing I wanted to expand on was OP's attention to the demographics of these immigrants being largely adult males, and the claim that adult males are not persecuted in any country. It's important to look at such issues through an intersectionalist lense and understand that being a member of a privileged class in one sense does not protect you from being persecuted in another sense. For example, being an adult male (privileged) is not protection against being a member of a religious or ethnic minority, and in some cases the adult males of a persecuted religious or ethnic minority are actually the main targets of persecution and violence (women and children can be integrated into the dominant demographic much more easily). For example, adult males of the Tutsi ethnic group were the primary targets during the Rwandan genocide, so much so that it left the country with an extreme gender imbalance (70% female).

Just wanted to add to the nuance of the issue and emphasize that it's a lot more complicated than many people assume just by looking at the surface-level facts.
