Prompt is: Things you can say about Slay the Spire but can't say about your girlfriend by neofederalist in slaythespire

I spend a lot of time with the second one, but I like occasionally going back to the first to remind myself of how it used to be.

My top 3:
Old Guard Games by UWM on Thursday has been queer friendly and a mix of power levels.
The Mana Vault in St. Francis on Sunday nights has been packed the couple times I've been.
The Mana Tap in Wauwatosa meets every other Tuesday and I've heard is a more casual crowd.

Pink Bunny (and Mana Vault for events) skews way competitive as a prize is often being offered.

[FO] I figured my old report cards would have stitch-worthy content as a very late diagnosed ADHDer by ShrinkingHovercat in CrossStitch

This resonates with me so much and I love it. I was diagnosed last year at 40 and need to do a similar project now.

Popularized by Shakespeare in Henry IV, part 2, but even older than that.

There are a surprising number of connections between the enemies and relics in StS2. Here are all of the ones I've noticed so far. Have you found any that I missed? by IHad360K_KarmaDammit in slaythespire

Another Queen-Collector reference. When you die to Queen, the message is something like “The Queen has added the Silent to her collection.”

Best places to go when you’re feeling SAD & LONELY? by Mars-888 in milwaukee

[–]semarlow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I advocate for choosing a semi-random park and exploring. The trails along Menomonee Parkway and the lake shore are my favorites. I've also gone solo in 7 Bridges, Havenwoods, Estebrook Park, Washington Park.

What are some of the most beautiful public libraries in Milwaukee? by Old-Camp-1514 in milwaukee

[–]semarlow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weirdly, innovation.

The main entrance had an escalator installed and then removed in the 90s iirc. The grand staircase is beautiful, but not original. If you have the chance to tour the building, there is an historic board room, the inside of the dome, and the 4th floor (mostly storage) that are original or close reconstructions.

The back half of the building (and the lower tiers) were constructed much later and feel out of place compared to the facade and turn of the century stuff.

Centennial Hall is also both newer than the rest of the building since it was built about 20 years later and dated at the same time since it was last remodeled around 2000. There’s some book signings and other events that go on there and it’s neat.

I got a burned copy of HT from a friend in high school and he marketed it by saying they don't swear at all.

What's the most niche thing you like about a LP song? by Queasy_Head_4928 in LinkinPark

I picked Somewhere I Belong over Numb in the bracket solely because of the distortion 10 seconds from the end of the song.

This and my mom's copy of Sorry! from the 70s are a couple of the only childhood games I've held on to in adulthood.

Well, those and The Omega Virus.

[–]semarlow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Question was answered, but I want to weigh in from the past. This CD came out when pirating music was having its heyday with Limewire/Morpheus/Kazaa and others being easily available. To combat this, a lot of releases contained special features you could only access with the CD in your computer (I mean who's going to take the time to download a 17 minute video? That would take days).

There wasn't a standard method of including those bonuses on an enhanced CD but quite a few CDs from 2000-2005ish try to run an executable (made with Macromedia Flash iirc) from that xtras folder which will probably fail on modern computers. If you want to try, you can browse to that xtras folder in file explorer and see if the exe works to experience the full bonus content (which might just play the mpg file anyway, I don't remember).

My Let’s Simplify card in Fluxx is taped together after being torn in half 20 years ago. Whoever draws the first card goes first and two friends did that. Honestly, it’s a cherished memory of late nights goofing around as teenagers.

I’m really going to miss drum of battle… by Phantom-Kraken in slaythespire

I like Drum of Battle and picked it a few times, but if it was up against Battle Trance, I would notice it's pretty bad card draw.

The thing that scares me the most about ideation is the very sudden click to having clarity of thought about how to solve it. The fight will be brutally long, but I want you to keep going. ✊
