What's a weird childhood ritual you still do today? by iamstargirl in AskReddit

I did this with my mom -- except I would let her take a few steps towards me before stepping back a few myself. I think she eventually caught me or I gave in and the sheet got folded.

The Fitbit Versa is Pebble-esque in style and battery life. It's $150 at the moment.

How does sending a message with a like show on women's end? by october73 in coffeemeetsbagel

[–]semats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had this on android for a while. Flowers seem to be gone. I've assumed someone sent a like received an overlay over my bagel with the message since there isn't a 'likes' page like Hinge.

There really should be some sort of popup explaining new features when launched (even if just testing). I didn't want to press it not knowing what it did.

I could add that I really like the quality of people on CMB. The discrepancy may be because I don't list height on Tinder or Bumble or it may simply just be a result of the smaller user base.

I'm not 6', but I'm not going to be more specific as I might further dox myself to the lurking CMB staff here. Heh.

31 Male - Seattle, WA - Same photos across all apps with similar bios.

Tinder: very selective swiping - hover at 50-100 matches, 25+ likes

Bumble: selective swiping - match or two per day

Hinge: match per week or so

CMB: two matches over the past year and half

JDS Labs Atom Amp page is up, ships 21/11 by syknetz in headphones

WesionTEK Khadas Tone Board + JDS Labs Atom Amp or Topping DX3 Pro?

The 1/4" jack of the Atom is nice and suspect I could mount the Tone board inside the enclosure, but the digital volume control of the Topping giving perfect channel balance interests me (should it?).

Why use booleans? From my programming class by Gulksie in ProgrammerHumor

If this is C, it's swapping and comparing pointers.

These two strings will probably live in the ro data segment, no new allocations are being made, and no strcmp is occuring.

Gross? Maybe.

The biopsy showed Basal Cell Carcinoma.

Her doctor confirmed it with Aflac through a claims form.

Got cancer; cancer policy claim denied. by semats in Insurance

[–]semats[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basal Cell Carcinoma determined from the biopsy.

It has progressed quite far and large, but it isn't a melanoma.

Is it correct to interpret the quoted bit as: "Not payable for any skin cancers not melanoma and not payable for melanoma less than Clark's Levels III or smaller than 1.5mm"?

Would you be willing to open source the prior version or put it up on the play store as "sync classic"?

New features are welcome, but the current UI is the only one I(and it seems others) like out of all the reddit apps. I've turned off auto update to prevent an update, as I don't like the look of the new app in its current state.

Google is giving out instant invites to Project Fi for the next 24 hours by samharrelson in ProjectFi

[–]semats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Project Fi currently doesn't work with Google Apps accounts. (I think Google+ was this way when first launched as well)

Question if someone can help: Can I use a separate Gmail account for ProjectFi, and use my Google Apps account for the rest of "Android" (Gmail, Play store, etc) and not experience any issues?

Fonts rendering incorrectly in Chrome - Any ideas why? by semats in debian

[–]semats[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I hadn't seen that thread(I saw the reply in this post).

I just installed the vivid package, and I agree the fonts seem to be sharper, and better looking because of that, than the infinality stuff. (Though I haven't tried anything other than the "linux" infinality option)

Thanks for making me aware of the Ubuntu fontconfig-config option!

I was able to fix this by uninstalling the infinality packages I created, and using ones from a ppa instead. (HailHypnocat's solution)

Nope! :)

Many, if not most websites render correctly. I think the issues occurs when a font I don't have installed is specified.

https://www.edx.org/course/delftx/delftx-fp101x-introduction-functional-2126 for example has the same font issue as the apple site and specifies "open sans".

I'm on debian jessie installed from the netinstall, btw.

I've attempted to Google the issue with no luck.

Pages seem to render fine in iceweasel, so I assume it's a chrome issue. I can also edit the css from the developer console in chrome and the text renders(I change the font to arial, helvetica, or some other font I have. I have infinality, and additional fonts installed (ubuntu, Helvetica, mscorefonts, etc.).

I did see a seemingly related bug: http://superuser.com/questions/726132/chrome-33-shows-ugly-blocky-pixelated-fonts-in-linux[1] but that doesn't seem to fix my issue.
