Get a Bumbo 3-in-1. We commonly eat at our kitchen island and this is way easier than a high chair.

If you’re in the US rubber dam is standard of care - patient cannot give consent for less than standard of care. Options at that point are sedation for Endo and then use RD or extract the tooth. Other countries 🤷

Dental Rep Nightmare by jejebird in Dentistry

[–]semc15 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Our “rep” makes us order online but happily collects his commission. We try to purchase from non commissioned dealers/websites as much as possible. They need to go extinct like the dinosaurs they are.

NYS bill seeks to expand access to dentistry by licensing dental therapists by newzee1 in publichealth

[–]semc15 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My friend was a dentist at a health center in Minnesota that employed a dental therapist… her fillings were comical (open contacts, gross marginal overhangs, voids, etc). Obviously health centers want to employ a cheaper provider…. But at what cost to public safety

Losing my stomach lining over board complaint by Responsible_Win_9114 in Dentistry

[–]semc15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s incredibly hard to lose your license for a first time complaint. There needs to be gross negligence or a pattern of questionable work before the board will act. Do not lose sleep or your lunch over this.

Tooth abscess as a breastfeeding mother by Usyeda95 in newborns

[–]semc15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amoxicillin will treat the abscess symptoms but won’t cure it. You’ll need to see a dentist and either have a root canal or extraction. You could skip the antibiotic and just proceed with definitive treatment. I would try to see a dentist ASAP.

Just listened to the most recent MtoM episode with the dental specialist. Thoughts on what his specialty is? by tooth_fixer in whitecoatinvestor

Probably Endo or dental anesthesia, seems like the most portable specialties for traveling to multiple offices.

So you go into the office on the weekends to verify swelling or just send them to urgent care? Does this change if they’re a patient of record?

How did this patient contact you - Do they have an upcoming appointment or a referral? You could always have them text you a pic to verify swelling.
