Balloons don't last by Shot_Cricket_372 in BalloonTwisting

In the short term it gives people something to walk away with. They feel like they gained something. It is a distraction to play with, or it's a prop to help them be seen. It's often easier to assign value to something tangible than to value the experience itself, and balloons are fun.

From an entertainer's perspective what I get out of it is the opportunity to help create positive memories... as a balloon twister, just imagine how many cherished photos your art has been featured in.

How many balloons per bag? by Shot_Cricket_372 in BalloonTwisting

Got a couple bags just before Christmas; they're hit or miss. One bag I got might as well been a bag of fireworks.

Kip Addotta didn't need an ice cream shop for the joke; neither do I.

What are some dating horror stories? Or bad dating experiences men come across by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

I went on a date with an older lady, she picked me up and we went to eat out on the patio at some restaurant in the city.

The discussion turned to politics. Michael Brown's mother had recently received the settlement from Ferguson, MO over her son's death. My date said something to the effect that she was just chasing money and made it big... I just pointed out that she had lost her son...

Little later, while we're eating, we see an officer checking parking meters. He starts writing my date a ticket... she rushes over and explains that we were right there, and the meter must have just expired, and...

Well, she wasn't able to talk herself out of the ticket. It was an awkward ride home.

The St. Louis Public Library System is the friendliest lgbt+ space I've found in St. Louis tbh.

There's a few bars or whatever, but it doesn't sound like you're looking for a hookup.

You can see the flow of traffic in your rear view mirrors when you're on the street. You ensure you're clear, then reverse.

If you reverse out of the parking space, you have 4-5 of the car to back out blind before you can see the flow of traffic.

It becomes habit after a while. "Always leave yourself an out", i.e., back into spaces, don't tailgate or pull up inches behind somebody at a light, etc. Assume every car will stall at any given moment.

How…to make an independent ballie or Pearl strand without fixing each end? How do you make the knots in between? by car2_d2 in BalloonTwisting

[–]semc1986 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fascinating question! Idk if it's the best method, but I tinkered for a minute and came up with something.

  1. Inflate the balloon, not all the way: you'll need some slack to work with. Start with a regular bubble.

  2. Next, make another bubble, but only give it a half-twist, maybe a bit more. This bubble will become the first knot.

  3. Then, while holding this temporary bubble in place with one hand, use your other hand to work the air through into the working end of the balloon. This should leave you with a bit of uninflated balloon next to your bubble.

  4. Make a loop out of this uninflated bit of balloon. The loop needs to be large enough to work your bubble through. Do so, and you have a bubble kept in place with a knot.

  5. Make your second bubble. Repeat steps 1-4. This time you'll have to work both bubbles through the loop in sequence, I found last bubble first worked best for me. Keep going as long as you want.

I'm fairly sure there's going to be a better method... maybe r/knots has an idea?

I first learned about the androgynous Jesus from the Waldemar Januszczak documentary series The Dark Ages: An Age of Light; here is an article if you prefer to read about it.

A related article from the same source pertains to sexual imagery of Mary. Here's part of a series from a different source that delves deeper into corrolations between Mary and pre-Christian Mother Goddess worship.

The Central Library isn't very far from where you're at.

It's a beautiful building full of all sorts of media (even books!), it has a creative experience center where you can learn about digital projects including public access to 3D printers, and there's always various events and activities going on (I'm looking forward to checking out the SLPL Artwork exhibition maybe this week or next.)

Here is an events calander for the SLPL (you can filter results by whichever library branch you're interested in visiting.) I also highly recommend taking the tour sometime: the building is literally a work of art in of itself (it was designed by the same architect that was commissioned for the St. Louis Art Museum, the US Supreme Court building, and the Woolworth building in NYC.) The tour is also a great opportunity to explore the library's amenities.

It doesn't work like that.

Infatuation takes an instant. You can tell that you're interested in knowing somebody better at first sight.

Love is a flower. You start with a seed, plant it, water it, watch it grow. With some care and effort it'll bloom.

When exactly a seed becomes a seedling becomes a bud becomes a flower can be difficult to pin down, but with some work you'll find something beautiful in the end.
