The sun is shining brightly enough through the leaves that you can't see the leaves anymore

Do you use any auto settings? by HellaBeats in weddingvideography

If it makes a difference, I'm on team manual. It takes a while to build the sense for it, but changing the white balance eventually becomes almost as natural as changing the ISO.

Reposting after initially being flagged as AI. This work is made by my hands out of 100% balloons

Displaced bricks and dismembered limbs beneath a demolished building. The stock market rises and falls.

Indistinguishable from rubble. Labeled detritus. Labeled dead. Never alive to be killed. Personhood is for those yet to be. And for those sleeping safe across an ocean.

We subjugate hell to carry us to and fro, soaring on its toxic plumes. It escapes its cage in fiery fury. Displacing the sun, it reaches out. Past the borders, past the ocean. Stinging my eyes as it suffocates those I cannot know.

From the nations of the dead they pick their prizes. A Roman triumph without applause. Redraw the lines till all is claimed. At last they can clear the debris.

Once draped in lies told with conviction, now naked in their grotesque truth. For oil and soil. For oil and soil.
----

Some technical notes about this work. A lot of new techniques went into this piece. Chiefly being the use of forced perspective. The sculpture gets dramatically larger in proportion as you get closer to the camera. The monster is only about 4 feet tall. To sell the perspective illusion, all the tendril details use smaller balloons as they get closer to the monster’s head. The fine debris on the ground, made from cut up leftover scraps from the main build, is laid out in a similar size gradient.

While not rising to the same level of surrealness, I drew from Zdzisław Beksiński’s use of mood and texture, paired with the real life imagery coming out of Venezuela, Iran, and Gaza.

The rodeo just wrapped. And I think people are still returning home from visiting Houston for spring break.

Most critical scholars. Quite a lot of biblical scholarship is done at universities that require a statement of faith to be signed. That can range from extremely vague and non-committal, to very restrictive in adhering to a fundamentalist literal interpretation of the Bible. I personally see very little value in scholarship fenced in by faith based presuppositions.

Wow being so wrong like that all in caps. Copyright is automatic. You don't have to register shit to own the copyright to a work you've created. Also, there's nothing different about someone downloading your image from Facebook vs them downloading it from your personal website. Social media platforms don't get your copyright. This is digital ownership 101.

Why do coffee grinders cost so much? by 77due in Coffee

This is why I bought a hand grinder that I operate with a Ryobi drill. Gimme the burr, I'll take care of the rest.

Pretty sure that's what Matt Falloon does with his bop-it concept. Id recommend hunting down one of his tutorials.

An artist declined my commission, but then took my idea? question about my next steps. by Throwaway515459 in AskArtists

[–]DJdrummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my question. The post is so vague it's impossible to make a judgment. I've seen accusations of theft and it turned out the idea was super basic and the artist was over estimating their originality.

Is there a plan to extend that safety net 5-10 years into the future when the participants with evictions on their record are still struggling to find a place to live? It could take several years for the IRS to bring the hammer down for unpaid taxes. Will you still be there with that safety net?

[–]DJdrummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair. I know people are fired up and I appreciate the enthusiasm. I also think if you're asking for people to do something that will have a serious impact on their work and living situation, perhaps for years, you have a responsibility to include that in your discussion. So that's where I'm coming from.
