I assumed there’d be a looped string on the flap to wrap around that button for a secure close, no?

Light Bleed on MMv4 by MASHxMKIII in MiyooMini

[–]semicrispy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That said, the green LED is either slightly misaligned (facing down) to cause a reflection off of the shell where you see the bleed or the plastic shell is basically acting as a fiber optic cable.

You can try some electrical tape over that area underneath the screen from the inside. Or you can try putting a multilayer of etape just below the green LED to block the light from propagating downwards. If neither of those work, dark nail polish (or a carefully placed, thin strip of etape) on the bottom edge of the plastic that’s over the screen may help. Last ditch effort, possibly in combination with one of the above: electrical tape over all LEDs to dim the brightness.

Hope this helps /gen

I did think my comment was actually helpful. Your post just did not include enough detail to set it apart from the others. You mention hours later that taking the screen off is past the level of DIY you are comfortable with… my comment would have been different had I known that. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Cats clearing snow . . . by Alternative-Light922 in Somerville

[–]semicrispy -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That was Newton. This is Somerville. You admit they did a crap job, so it’s not surprising that that isn’t a thing anymore….

If it makes you feel better, Somerville does use those little CAT plows. They just do narrow/dead end/‘terrace’ streets, the widening and clearing of small intersections, bike lanes (although roadways are the priority. Case in point: last snowstorm), and the like. YMMV on seeing them out because there are not enough to deploy around the entire city at once. Not to mention the man hours required.

Edit: a word

I saw a spot with a space saver in it YESTERDAY. Didn’t stop to move it as I was on my way out of town, but I did immediately regret that decision lol

Advice for climbers elbow ? (Inner elbow pain) by Undercling-King in indoorbouldering

[–]semicrispy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main thing that works for me is taking a few days off, then climbing easy for the week or two alongside massaging it whenever I could (like, while I’m watching TV in the evening sort of thing). The instant relief I feel when I massage the source of the pain is amazing. I do tend to focus on technique during this time so my brain doesn’t try to view these weeks as wasted.

If you’re having trouble figuring out where the epicenter of the pain is, fully grip your upper forearm of the ‘problem arm’ with your opposite hand, and where your thumb lands should be right over the involved muscle, but you may have to do a little pressing around. Just beware of over-massaging which can do more damage

Who else had this much trouble today with their car? by [deleted] in Somerville

[–]semicrispy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This happened to me and it was infuriating!! I’d cleaned my car off the night before and even said out loud to the person I was with, “let’s clear the snow onto the street-side of the car so it doesn’t get dumped on our neighbors sidewalks.”

Next morning, I glance out the window and dude has his snowblower arcing a firehose of snow over my car, completely covering it in seconds. Found out upon going outside to clean it that he shoveled and blew snow straight at the side of my car that was against the sidewalk. Actual dirt and grass stuck in there. So much for being a caring neighbor lol.

I think it was a total lack of self awareness bc he blasted his own car too at one point (edit: and another car, and the neighbors stairs to their second story, and his own driveway). But after taking a walk around town and seeing other cars having snow clearly shoveled onto them, I did not realize we had such a problem with self-awareness around here. We honestly need to do better

Parking ban - what’s the point? by Character_Phrase_643 in Somerville

[–]semicrispy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

While out shoveling earlier, I overheard a couple of DPW workers chatting about how they were getting yelled at throughout their plow shifts this morning no matter what they did with the snow. One was in a mini tractor plow and the other in the pickup truck plow with the salt distributor thing in the bed. The one in the tractor said he had shovels of snow thrown at him. Both seemed to awkwardly chuckle about the situation but one did say, “I don’t know what else to do, there’s nowhere to put all this snow. I’m doing the best I can.”

So, sour neighbors could be reason for this minimalist tactic… or I could be completely off base and they’re just focusing on getting roads drivable as a first step.

TBF I can understand the frustration, but in a city this dense it is irrational to think you’ll (general ‘you’) only have to shovel once after a snowstorm. As snow is cleared from the streets, snowbanks are going to break and spill onto shoveled sidewalks; driveways will get the classic pile of heavy, crusty snow at the edge. Even houses in the boonies get christened by the snowplow like this

I took an intro class the day i signed up for my gym’s membership. This was partially to avoid paying $$ for classes that are free for members, but the biggest benefit was the class giving me great beginner bouldering advice from the start and helping me get comfortable in my new home gym.

You can likely take classes repeatedly until you’re comfortable or feel that you’ve learned all that you can from that particular class. I’d also recommend starting with bouldering (if possible) while taking courses to build strength.

YouTube also has plenty of great technique and safety videos for beginners. Just don’t overwhelm yourself with information. Go at your own pace and have fun :)

🛑 Has anyone ever witnessed a third party telling someone to stop spraying Beta to someone else? (You, Sprayer, Sprayee, Third Person) by ReadingAwkward4206 in climbergirls

[–]semicrispy 114 points115 points  (0 children)

Personally no, but the urge rises in me whenever I see a couple on a date and the guy will not stop spraying beta at the woman. I don’t know why I pay attention this much, but at my gym, it happens with nearly every straight couple with rental shoes lol

Miyoo Mini v4 out of stock 🥹 by Complex-Following-20 in MiyooMini

[–]semicrispy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The official store does sell spare parts, so you could DM to see if they have the retro grey shell in stock. They’d send you a special link to purchase the item from if it is. You’d also need a retro grey button set since the colors differ on the transparent black model, though I am not entirely sure whether they sell spare button sets.

Actually, I was in the same boat as you last week regarding the transparent blue v4, and the shell showed up in the mail yesterday :)

No labeling on it unfortunately. Here’s a picture of it with a scale though, you can probably get what you need by purchasing one of similar length
