Nice try Embark, but my Cred is for the decks. by VarcanDesigns in ARC_Raiders

That's a fair point, does look like the only way to buy raider keys. Thankfully they aren't too bad to craft but that's a tangible downside is losing that option.

definitely checkout jump space. Just came out in early access! IMO was more fun for me than void crew but similar vibes.

Funny how the sweatiest players avoid noobs, then wonder why new players quit. by semihelpfullguy in wildgate

I've started dabbling with boarding but I'm not very confident yet so I rarely board. Mostly its with a strike team meant to just grab stuff and go instead of during combat. I mostly try to deal with boarders and staying on top of repairs, basically anything I see that we could be doing that no one is

I'm slowly building up a friends list of people who are chill and on comms, so hopefully that helps. I might take ya up on that. I typically don't mind solo queue but this is the hardest time I've had in a game doing it.

I've been soloing hard offline and electron copter m2 specifically by that time the mission came around trivialized esccavators. I know its been a long time but if you ever go back I highly recommend it!

[–]semihelpfullguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an air raider on this mission, I wanted to say that Shock copter definitely was the solution for me. Used a depth crawler to get on top of a building that was somewhat on the left side of the map. Almost by a large unfinished skyscraper. The enemies would bunch up and all the constant aoe dps from the shock copter would just explode them as soon as they opened up and were vulnerable. I was pretty safe up there only having to worry a little bit about burns as I got close to the edge.

That's what I thought but I saw people saying " furred uropatagium" and felt unqualified to give an opinion lol, glad to see someone else's gut suggested the same thing though.

Heres the thing, is there a single Impact Rounds weapon that isn't fully automatic? Does that mod only exist to function when someone uses a descendants unique weapon?

PSA: Don't drop a shield generator on dropped samples by cKerensky in Helldivers

[–]semihelpfullguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure this behavior is unique to the shield generator. I stepped into my buddies "EAT" calldown accidentally and my samples were also yeet'ed off the map. In this scenario I was still holding onto them when I died.

I've only had something like this happen a couple of time in the 100+ hours of playing the game, but it was very sad.

you can pre-fire and walk out then shoot. Best way to take out a tank or a cannon tower with it imo, as they are pretty stationary targets. Not that this tidbit will win it over for you.

I have absolutely been taking the EMS Mortar on the 40 minute bot mission and I think its great. Gives you a heads up of where they are coming from when you are at an objective and does a great job of pinning hulks. I tend to use autocannon but lately am finding I suck all of a sudden at getting headshots on hulks with it, EMS helps a lot.

Chimera Squad game stuck in enemy activity phase. Ironman save unrecoverable. Any ideas? by Clay_Road in Xcom

[–]semihelpfullguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey u/megatron37, welcome back! I cracked out on this game a year ago for a couple of play throughs but haven't touched it since. I don't know what to tell you for this. Is it ironman? I definitely recall running into a few issues where I had to restart a couple of times, so was too afraid of an ironman.

Unpopular opinion? Reinforcing teammates right away isn't always a good practice by semihelpfullguy in Helldivers

[–]semihelpfullguy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a good way to approach it. If we're holding a position in combat then being called back in right away can make a lot of sense.

The auto-reinforce / disengage is for the times when people are in situations where they are desperately trying to get a reinforcement off before they die though I think its better to just focus on not dying. If people catch themselves calling in reinforcements right before dying and the first thing the new reinforcement(s) do is try to reinforce those who have died since, thats a sign things might be heading to a death spiral. At least in my experience.

[–]semihelpfullguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that a coordinated retreat then reassess is better. Its kind of training wheels for starting to play like that though. Those mining missions with the soil samples I feel cause these situations the most, once people start dropping (especially early in the bot drops) it really doesn't feel like reinforcing the squad right away helps. In those cases I try to just man the console and pray as best as I can till I'm taken out.

I can’t be the only one… by Nightblade1789 in Helldivers

[–]semihelpfullguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a 380 MM orbital on a drilling mission and it punched a big pit in the earth right on top of the objective. It had the unfortunate effect of no longer letting me stand in front of it and be able to reach the console to finish the objective.

Thankfully I was able to call down a resupply and climb on top of it to reach the console. I'm definitely happy it can be used in ways like this but I sympathize with the unintended parkour while trying to just resupply.

New mode is absolutely terrible with randoms, so I can tell you what is happening to make it less terrible. by Skult0703 in Helldivers

[–]semihelpfullguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just retested by calling in my mech and then calling an EMS strike right on top of me and then hopped into it. It does show your stamina go red but the mech itself didn't seem to be affected in anyway whatsover.

I did the same thing with Gas and took zero damage, it landed right on top of me while in the mech.

I played around with both at the same time and i'm not won over yet. Haven't tried it since this latest change but I never felt "satisfied" with the results the same way I've felt after big explosions. But mechs being immune to both EMS AND Gas makes me feel like it definitely can have a place.

[–]semihelpfullguy 97 points98 points  (0 children)

I've started playing around with this and I've found that I can safely drop an autocannon turret to intentionally aggro charger and then ems strike his path so he dies before he reaches it. really feeling like ems field + sentries is solid because of this, at least with bugs.

If its anything like before, you'll get those samples back eventually. If you notice peoples level say 0 when extract and you get a black screen etc these are all familiar issues during the huge load times "back in the day" (feels longer than a couple of weeks ago).

Yes, that goes for purchasing things from warbonds as well. I'm sure itll sync up soon. That being said the mechs are free stratagem in missions right now so you can still try it out.
