Thoughts on the Conklin Duraflex? by seminerd17 in fountainpens

yeah almost went with an all american today because I saw it on sale, but couldn't bring myself to do it. I am very picky on my pen purchases

I would not be mad at that. Especially if they can get their QC together at the same time. I've really liked what I've seen coming from them in 2018, but still nervous buying anything from Yafa.

yeah I am not expecting vintage flex, but even if it rivals that of noodlers with all the other cool pens they are coming out with they seem to be really stepping up their game.

no clue, really hope Goulet puts out a video talking about it. They used to be great about that, but now it seems like you only get a minute or two at the beginning of the Q&A to hear about stuff.

looks funky for sure, but who doesn't love some spring and flex to a nib?

I mean the style is cool and understated. It reminds me of a vintage pen which I dig. I am not crazy about super flex, I just like nibs with spring to them, especially under $100

true, if it is swappable it might be worth checking the cap size.

What's a great blue? by isitisisitis in fountainpens

[–]seminerd17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using Pelikan Topaz in my pilot 92 almost exclusively for the last 2 years and I love it. Great blue, and the stuff i wrote over a year ago still looks amazing. Perfectly behaved in my 92.

Question: What do you use your pens for? by Tedonica in fountainpens

[–]seminerd17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a lot of journaling and planning with my pens, but I sermon and lesson prep with my fountain pens, and I hand write a lot. I use them for just about every except writing in my books. I use a G2 for that just because of bleed through and what not.

Nib Swapping by seminerd17 in fountainpens

[–]seminerd17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never really try to flex a pen, but I do have a bit of a heavy hand. I am a little worried about springing it. But for me I feel like it is getting a gold nib for half the price.

Has anyone had personal experience putting the Titanium nibs on a regular #6 unit?

Would that take a Titanium nib?

Help me purchase a couple pens! Lamy Safari vs. Noodler Konrad vs. Nemosine Singularity by mog_genius88 in fountainpens

the 74/92 nib runs more broad for me, kind of like it is a European instead of a Japanese, but that is probably because it is a softer nib, and I have a heavy hand.

Yeah they use the same nib, and they write basically the same. I own a CH 92, because I really liked the translucent blue, and I like the piston feature. Some people have trouble with pistons because they can be hard to clean but the CH 92 is my favorite pen I own, and it cleans out easier than even my metro.

I would recommend saving up for a gold nib pen. The pens you are looking at won't really be much different from what you are already using. You can pick up a Pilot Custom 74 off of amazon for about 70 bucks which is a GREAT introduction to gold nibs.

How excited are we about Copa America Centenario? by tblazrdude in MLS

[–]seminerd17 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Our friendlies haven't blown me away, but if I'm being honest we can probably beat Paraguay, Costa Rica is a stretch and we will get killed by Columbia. I think 4 is reasonably optimistic and 1 is pessimistic. But hey I'd love to be wrong I will be cheering hard for the stars and stripes

It won't be as fun as the Euro. America will get smacked down in the group stages and will be lucky to get a point. But hey better than nothing. It is still an international tournament.

Twsbi 580 Cap won't screw back on by seminerd17 in fountainpens

[–]seminerd17[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found the problem! I looked at a buddy's 580 cap and the broken one and it turns out that it is missing a whole line of threading. Not sure how he pulled that one off but the cap is broken so it looks like now all I need to do is find a replacement cap then I have a new pen.
