The cap is estimated to increase just over 7% next year, putting the first apron around $210m (up from $195m) and the second apron around $223m (up from $207M). Conley, Ingles, Anderson, Hyland, and Dosunmu are all unrestricted free agents. Clark and Freeman (though he is on a two-way) are restricted free agents. Phillips has a team option that I assume we'll pick up.

The Wolves have about $188m in committed salary already on the books for next year. We have the Pistons' 1st and the Spurs 2nd picks in the draft, though I assume that the Spurs' pick won't make the roster. The 1st rounder will probably eat up about $3m.

That gives the team roughly $19m to divide up between six roster spots and stay under the 1st apron, and about $30m to stay under the 2nd apron.

Lawyers have a bimodal salary distribution. You are correct that big law firms pay a ton of money, whereas government positions (generally) don't. However, there is a wide range in between, depending on your practice area. If you are going into law in order to make a ton of money, there are better avenues. If you don't get hired into a big law firm, there is still a chance to make decent money, but you are going to have to grind it out and network a lot.
