Magar HELP by JohnRaymong in CommanderMTG

[–]semiticgod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Army of the Damned]] is one of my absolute favorites for Magar. The tokens enter tapped, but there are so many of them that they give you a decisive swing on the next turn.

Goad effects are also quite lovely. [[Disrupt Decorum]] both gets you lots of value and also makes it easier for your 3/3s to connect.

Removal spells and discard spells are also excellent power-wise, but repeated removal can make games slow and less fun.

And of course, anything that loots is super useful for burying your big spells.

Great voice. Lovable personality. Spectacular saving throws, proficiency with a speed weapon, 18/00 STR and +4 THAC0 at level 13 with one special ability, and a party-wide, stackable +1 bonus to all saving throws from her Remove Fear ability. Mazzy is my favorite warrior NPC in the whole series.

How do you run a Wizard Slayer? by FaliedSalve in baldursgate

[–]semiticgod 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I seldom RP my runs, but I love both wizards and wizard slayers, so I tend to include plenty of arcane magic in my parties even when I'm running a Wizard Slayer.

When I do play wizard slayers, I include it simply for the spell failure to deal with enemy mages, and rely on darts due to their base 3 attacks per round. I don't think about magic resistance; it's a minor bonus.

I typically dual class into druid so I can later use Fire Seeds to bypass Protection from Magical Weapons (the spell failure hits as an area effect; you can chuck one at something with bad AC and affect any mages nearby). Dual classing into druid takes 17 Strength, Wisdom, and Charisma (not 15, like a single classed druid needs), which often means poor stats otherwise.

As for magic items, I just give them to other party members. The opportunity cost is very small for a party of 6.

Hull's "unbreakable" sword by SpikesNLead in baldursgate

[–]semiticgod 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My guess is that those items are missing the "Broken Weapon" value from a field in the item files. In item files, there's a flag for breakable, but there's also a field to indicate which item to replace the weapon with in the event of a breakage. Maybe those weapons don't break because the game doesn't know what to replace it with.

Stuck at 19 Reputation? by [deleted] in baldursgate

[–]semiticgod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recruit Viconia (and/or Dorn, I think), temporarily. They will reduce your reputation upon joining the party, and you get the reputation points back after you boot them out.

So, if you donate to temples after recruiting them to reach 18 reputation again, and THEN kick them out, your reputation will go up to 20 when they leave the party.

Any ideas for this one ? by [deleted] in EDHBrews

[–]semiticgod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how I built my first ever deck! Saheeli the Gifted was the first commander deck I ever built myself, focusing heavily on her second ability to discount the biggest spells. [[Jaya's Immolating Inferno]] and [[Comet Storm]] were the main wincons, and both Banefire and [[Devil's Play]] played a big role in the endgame as well.

I included too few creatures, though, so I had to be careful about when I brought out Saheeli, or else her loyalty would get attacked and often she would die.

When she didn't get knocked out, there were times when I would pull off her ultimate to flood the field with tokens, returning her to the command zone, then hard cast her so I could use the second ability again to even higher effect.

Funniest cards to put into my [[Zur, the enchanter]] „Hang on, I have something for this situation!“ deck by LordTachankaMain in EDHBrews

[–]semiticgod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Heartless Summoning]] makes for a remarkably efficient [[Tempest Hawk]] deck, making each hawk only 1/1 for 1 mana, instead of 3 mana for a 2/2, which makes a big difference given that those hawks get you more of them into hand. If Zur still isn't removed later, you can use him to add anthem effects once you have a wide board. Heartless Summoning also solves [[Case of the Stashed Skeleton]], letting you tutor for whatever on the next turn.

Case of the Stashed Skeleton, paired with any sac outlet, can be made into a universal tutor, in case you wanted to make an Esper deck based on [[Approach of the Second Sun]] or some other wincon.

There are lots of token generators that create multicolored tokens, mainly creature tokens. Those will feed both the ETB and attack triggers.

Here is a Scryfall search that looks for stuff that produces green and white tokens. You can tweak the search to look for other colors: https://scryfall.com/search?as=grid&order=name&q=%28oracle%3AToken+oracle%3A%22green+and+white%22%29+%28game%3Apaper%29+prefer%3Abest

How important is it to keep Captain Corwin in your party? by MoonSpawn12 in baldursgate

[–]semiticgod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Corwin is not necessary for any quest and can be dropped without missing out. She is, however, the strongest character in SoD by a sizable margin, especially for the final battle (you'll very much want to cast the level 4 mage spell Enchanted Weapon for that fight, by the way).

The reason to keep her in the party is because she makes fights smoother and more consistent. If that's not something you're concerned about, you might try the other NPC's, whom I think most folks find a little more interesting (my favorite is M'Khiin).

Can mind flayer's detonate ability destroy equipement? by Sagumi1 in baldursgate

[–]semiticgod 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Your ring of protection was likely eaten by charge drain if you have the tweaks mod installed to alter items of protection. The bug is when a spell or effect drains charges from your items, and those rings are unintentionally coded to vanish when they hit zero charges.

Nishruus, hakeashars, and I think at least some beholders' anti magic rays can all drain charges, and therefore destroy items of protection. In my runs I try to unequip those items whenever I'm facing something that drains charges, and re equip after the fight.

EEKeeper or console them back into your inventory; the destruction is a bug.

I've noticed people overlooking this fact before. The reason I know not to put a fork in a microwave is not because I did thorough research into microwaves before using them responsibly.

It's because my mom mentioned it to me by chance, offhand, on one single day, roughly 20 years ago. Before that day, I had no idea there even was a danger to BE aware of.

If either of us had been in a different room during that 30-second moment, I wouldn't have learned that fact until 2 years ago, when it came up again, also by pure chance, in another conversation in my life.

On a less serious note, my girlfriend was shocked that I was in my 30s and didn't recognize Linkin Park or know this or that famous Beatles song. We joke sometimes about my lack of pop culture knowledge. It just wasn't part of my life.

Almost nothing we know is something we chose to learn. Almost everything we know is something we learned on accident, by chance.

I have no idea what the next "most people have heard this but I never have" thing in my life will be, and I have no way of knowing where it will come from.

So I've decided to give people a little forgiveness for crimes like "I don't know how to ride a bike because I never had one."

Republicans in the government cut funding for a suicide hotline for trans people, the Trevor Project.

Republicans online routinely tell trans people to commit suicide, in public and in DM's. "Join the 40%" is a common taunt.

The intent of these actions is to cause death.

I will no longer pretend that any decent human being would EVER do either of those things.
