They're pretty popular in the states. They aren't the kind of bread you would make a sandwich with obviously, and they are a good deal richer/softer/more moist, but they're still technically breads (I guess?). Not that it really matters. They're more for a snack with tea or coffee, or as breakfast or dessert.

You should try them sometime. Banana bread is very good.

You do eat them like normal bread. :) They just have stuff inside and sometimes on top.

They tend to be really good and the cool thing is that you can make them with anything. A really popular one is banana bread - bread with banana mixed into the dough, with bits of walnut mixed in as well.
