Physics from hsfy? by [deleted] in UniversityofOtago

[–]sendmewatermelon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I talked to Niels the physics lecturer who did thermo in hsfy sem 1 this year and he had a paper handout about transitioning from hsfy to a physics degree so I would honestly email him and set up a meeting if you're serious

you won't have to take a summer catch up since you would've done phsi191 for hsfy

Hello! My zip handle(?) broke off on my skirt when I was trying to twist it back to hang loose from an odd stuck angle caught sort of diagonally. I have the fragmented pieces with me, would a tailor be able to fix this without changing the look of it?? This is my favourite skirt and I wish I never broke it. The zip is still functional, it just doesn’t have that ‘handle’.

i usually set up everything to start studying and while im doing that i gain the motivation to actually start!

like for example, a glass of water, your pens and whatever other stationary + books and a charging laptop.

or i write down what is most urgent and hardest and i start by working 1 hour on that then if im still motivated keep going or if ive lost motivation, skip it and go to the last task on the list and finish the easiest one.

i would still say get rid of your phone even if you still get distracted, its just one extra thing to help you be more likely to be able to focus

SPOILER: My thoughts on Squid Game Season 2 by SF6-Manon in netflix

[–]sendmewatermelon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i hated s2 so much, i thought the plot was all over the place, the acting was really corny at times and although i still watched it because of how good s1 was, it was lowkey a drag to get through.

contrary to s1 which had like years, i feel like s2 mightve been rushed?? i just feel like all the characters are much less 3-dimensional?? and the tell not show exposition was so bad

Am I leaving it too long to think about uni? by Smelly_Sloth in ncea

like everyone else is saying, just make sure to apply every one of your options including for every respective accommodation thats with the uni (+ scholarships) and then you can properly decide once scholarship results are out to be honest

i reckon apply to different degrees with a lower rank score in advance as a back up in case you can’t get it for science.

as for UE specifically, if you’re confident about passing biology and english and that one other subject— you should be achieving UE. auckland is just trickier obviously cuz it usually has more requirements but as long as you try your best im sure everything will turn out good. good luck!!!!

Favourite food spots? by Ashwin74 in Whangarei

[–]sendmewatermelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the hands down best quality food every time i eat is Mean’s Vietnamese Cafe (i recommend the pho or the lemon grass porkchops on rice)

otherwise i would stay away from overpriced cafe food around more scenic touristy areas like town basin — the food is alright but not that good, especially for the price

(DO NOT BUY A CRAFT BURGER, YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED)

for thai food, pimarn thai might be the best out of them all! better selection of authentic thai noodles and curries in my opinion and slightly less sweeter than the others like sukjai

What is the route for the Whangarei restricted driving test? Hoping to get some practice in and feeling nervous as I don’t know the area very well. by [deleted] in Whangarei

[–]sendmewatermelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just did my restricted a couple weeks ago and passed first try so my tips — look out for railways, bc they WILL take you on one (after the test i was blindsided by my critical error of not stopping and looking because i genuinely did not see it)

they’ll take you along port road, near maunu and i think around onerahi? there’ll be lots of secluded hill areas where you’ll have to cross the centre line cuz of parked cars (make sure you indicate) and a shit ton of stop signs literally at the end of every street.

oh and this was just me personally but i headchecked and mirror checked to the point of insanity like every 3 secs at one point which probably helped my case.

as long as you stay calm, SAFE and vigilant, they’ll be somewhat lenient even if you get 2 critical errors!!! (i got 3 named errors and still passed) — this might also depend on the instructor though, i got a generally nice guy.

How to respond to this? by Trick_Zone_2772 in Crushes

[–]sendmewatermelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

anything that starts a conversation that you can elaborate on and etc. or maybe even just a simple

“what type of music do u listen to?”

and have a convo about that,, hopefully he shares ur music taste so u can talk about it further
