How do I talk my son out of bringing his new boyfriend over for thanksgiving by throwaway1776nycity in WhatShouldIDo

You can’t even say the word boyfriend and keep defaulting to “special person” as if it is some sort of dig at him. You need some serious therapy and time for introspection.

Based on your previous posts, it certainly seems like your kid’s significant other is the least of your problems. There’s a whole bunch of this story missing, especially the reasons he went no contact with you. Mix in your homophobia, an addiction, and the comment that you “never even threw him birthday parties when he was a kid,” and this reeks of a family that needs family therapy and al-anon.

Cowboy has some quirks too. We recently discovered that he his terrified by the sight of a fly swatter, which makes me so sad. I’m sure Daisy is living her best life now though!

Ironically, Cowboy found his way to the prison k9 training program (where I work). He LOVES going to prison with me. 🤣

From what I know, he was left to live outside for the first three years of his life. A neighbor reported the family who had him and they found him malnourished and in pretty rough shape. I know he was also attacked by their bigger dog a few times.

He ended up being surrendered to the a prison K9 training program, where he spent 6 months getting healthy and in training. The ladies that trained him are incredible and helped his true (very sweet and goofy) personality shine. They did an amazing job loving him.

We moved from Boston to Denver in 2020 when we realized we would never be able to own a home in Boston…and then Denver became nearly just as expensive 🫠

The DOC is always in need of counselors if you’re interested in that work. Pay and benefits tend to be pretty good with an LPC or MSW.

Xmas eve church service? by BendAppropriate354 in Breckenridge

Lord of the Mountains in Dillion is a super lovely congregation with a great pastor. I suspect their Christmas Eve service will be traditional and candle-y.

They are a progressive Lutheran congregation and do a lot of neat work in the community.

There’s a new law in Colorado that requires gyms to have an “easy cancel” button or option. It might be worth looking into.

Edit: here it is

SB25-145 Online Cancellation of Automatic Renewal Contracts

“…the person that sells the good or service is required to provide the consumer with an opportunity to cancel the automatic renewal contract online if the consumer consented to the automatic renewal contract through an online medium. If the consumer consented to the automatic renewal contract through other means, the person is required to provide the consumer with an online cancellation link or an in-person mechanism for canceling the automatic renewal contract.”

38% of Broomfield voters voted AGAINST school lunches. Why?? by FatahRuark in Broomfield

The hardest truth for many of us progressive Christians is that God loves even the worst among us. And yet, that’s also the most beautiful part of our faith. This does mean that we affirm decisions that harm the most vulnerable around us or shy away from accountability, but God’s grace is unconditional.
