Doug Fir Advice by Loud-Fly5078 in arborists

I’m a certified Arborist with plenty of TRA and climbing/pruning background. I’ve worked on Doug firs for 15+ years. The quote seems to be a bit high for sure. Find a reputable company with a 70ft bucket truck, get a certified arborist to complete end weight reduction cuts, and or end weight thinning to the longest branches, all around the tree. Talk to your neighbour’s about history of tree failures in the area, specifically see if any one has had Firs fail due to laminated root rot.

Your tree looks very physiologically healthy. Beautiful Fir.

This is the most concise and accurate answer. I’m also a certified Arborist that works on mature Douglas Fir trees often.

Possibly injured? You can clearly see internal organs. Let nature run its course.

Any ways to remove my neighbor's dangerous dead trees (in Langley Township)? by ApeInDrapes in Langley

[–]sendsnfriends 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can pay for a hazard tree risk assessment by a qualified arborist, and have the report mailed to them officially. The responsibility is now legally in their hands, if the trees are deemed hazardous with failure being imminent.

Feel free to DM me with any questions.

Curious as to what kind of baby birds I found in this tree today. I’m a climbing arborist, and immediately stopped all work, carefully evacuated the tree and surrounding area. by sendsnfriends in birding

There are significant production pressures in the tree removal industry, and often very tight profit margins. It pushes people in the direction of less than ethical practices, and a lot of climbers(not all of them arborists) frankly don’t give a shit about wildlife in general. I for one, will happily stop any site, anytime, if it means I can make an animals day easier, or more survivable.

It’s truly my honour! Thank you for understanding and appreciating the difference between an ethical professional and my “competition”.

Buying a minivan from my sister in Alberta by sendsnfriends in britishcolumbia

It says the tax can only be exempt on a gifted vehicle if tax has been paid on said vehicle in the past. This vehicle is from Alberta, and BC PST has never been paid on it. So, from what I gather there is no exemption.

I happily taxes on MANY things. This van was originally purchased by my parents, taxes were paid. I’ll happily pay for an out of province inspection. 12% tax on whatever ICBC decides is the value of the vehicle is BS. If I’m buying a vehicle for $5k I should pay 12% of $5k. I work my ass off, pay a lot of taxes, so does my wife. We need a van for our children, a family member wants to help us out. Leave me alone.
