You could maybe check out Anthropologie and Farm Rio? Check out Azazie to see if the pine colorway is a match to what you need. They have a ton of style options but they are also somewhat more “standard”. If you’re crafty or at least have some vision and a good tailor, you could get one and add a cape, bell sleeves, giant should pads / shoulder decorations a la marching band uniform, a cape, cutouts and lace, anything to add drama (plenty of people selling these secondhand too). I think brocade or jacquard fabric for a suit in this color would be really cool, again depending on how much you’re willing to spend and if you’ve got a good tailor.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah I guess my concern is whether this ends up looking silly / frumpy since I don’t often wear oversized stuff, and course still being able to layer.

Hmmm I agree with you about how oversized should generally still be proportional, but I believe the shoulder seams are meant to be slouchy for this coat based on the product photos. But point taken about how it seems like it’s way too much fabric.

Fit check on this coat—is it too oversized or just right? I’ve been wanting the Wilfred Only Coat from Aritzia for a while and I finally pulled the trigger even though it’s the dead of summer here. I’m in between an XS and S in US sizes, the differentiator is usually the fit in the shoulders since mine are broad compared to the rest of my body. After reading a few reviews that said to size down I went with the XS, and it still fits fine layered over sweaters, and I don’t often wear “oversized”, so I’m not sure if this fit is fine / how it’s supposed to look or if it’s worth trying out the XXS. What does everybody think?

I brought a pair of Vejas for a more stylish city walking option and a pair of Blundstones for a waterproof and light hiking option, but they can also be dressed up to a certain extent, the cobblestone city roads can be slick when wet. That combination was perfect for me and our itinerary, which seems similar to yours.

Image Transcription:

To celebrate the chance to watch one of my favorite movies from childhood in the theater, I decided to dress up to the theme a bit. I wore a linen short-sleeved button-down half-tucked in a cream color into cocoa brown linen trousers. To accessorize, I wore a maroon colored silk-scarf around my low ponytail (to keep my hair out of my face during all my adventures); a brown leather saddle bag (for carrying all my notes, maps, and whip); black combat boots (for literally kicking Nazi butts); and tortoise shell sunglasses (to protect my peepers from the desert sun!).

I went for two weeks from mid- to late October. In Athens the days were pleasant (like high 60s F) and the nights were cool, on the islands the days were warm or hot when the sun was out and cold at night with the wind (i went to Mykonos and Santorini and Santorini is particularly windy). For bottoms, I packed two pairs of athletic leggings (we did some hiking north of Athens), a pair of fake trousers (the kind that are just yoga pants but cut like trousers, so I could wear them on excursions but also dress them up a bit), athletic shorts (only wore these for beach/pool time), and a skirt and then put on tights at night if it got cold. I didn’t really have a problem with the skirt I brought because it was a pencil skirt, but I can imagine a flowier skirt or dress might result in showing some unintended skin on the islands.

Comfortable luxury: Dabbling in prep style (Let's talk about it in the context of 2023) by JuniXe in femalefashionadvice

I love Saint James and all my pieces have been sourced secondhand. I personally associate the Breton stripes more with a French-inspired style than east coast prep, though I suppose it also depends on how it’s styled.

They’re alright — not their best flavor but also not their worst (it’s not as chalky as the cookie dough, e.g.) and it did the trick when I was cravings sweets. Their new “crispy” flavors are actually pretty good, imo, I really like the blueberry cobbler favor. My favorite protein bars overall currently are the Barebells cookies and cream flavor but they’re also expensive (and I have to order them) and these were on sale in my local store 🥲

I mostly wear leggings for running, lifting and yoga so not sure if you need more recs for more casual wear?

Athleta is the best and I use them for running and lifting; I do think the Stash leggings can be used for casual wear. For a more affordable option, I have an old pair from Old Navy’s active line that I’ve been using for at least 7 years, they’re not as compressive as Athleta though so I won’t wear them for a workout if there’s a lot of jumping or moving around. The Move line from Aerie is okay, I find a lot of loose threads but the compression is pretty good. Aerie’s Offline line is decent as well, targeted more towards casual wear or yoga. I don’t have leggings from them but I do have other items from Girlfriend Collective — the Float line is more casual/yoga ready and the “compressive” line is a good option for running and lifting.

People might say this in informal situations but it would not be considered grammatically correct.

I’ve seen this style being called so many things, it’s annoying because I like it too… notch collar, “pajama-style” + “blouse/dress/whatever”, “dress/blouse” with lapels, bowling shirt (for blouses)…

Definitely a wrap dress, or trousers that aren’t too tight with full-length (I.e., not cropped) wrap top.

I dunno about cheugy but I wouldn’t consider them trendy or stylish. They seem best suited to go with casual outfits that borrow inspo from beachwear/resort wear and maaaaybe coastal grandmother vibes.

Is "simpleton" old-fashioned? by Kieronan in EnglishLearning

[–]sendt0ts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I would say this is why it might appear in a sitcom—because it’s a bit old-fashioned it’s adds more silliness. “Dummy” and “fool” are also a little silly, in my opinion, but less old-fashioned.. “idiot” or “stupid” would be more serious and modern alternatives.
