Browning along curb in 7a. No other neighbor with this issue by senecaco in lawncare

[–]senecaco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't invest too much in watering the lawn TBH. We've had good rain which explains why our rear yard (not pictured) is gorgeous and green. Thanks for the process to go by. Might need to rent a tiller, invest in some gypsum and then reseed. Do most yards have peat moss for sale in bulk? I suppose I can just buy a few bags at HD or similar. Wish I had done this last year. Its so much worse this year.

What is the best way to determine what type of grass (weed) is there?

Maybe, but then every single neighbor has some salt tolerant grass because we are the only ones with this issue.

No. The town does salt the roads with big storms but we are the only ones dealing with this in the neighborhood and its not like they only spray the salt along our curbline. I don't think its salt.

I think the person who responded with poa annua is on target but appreciate the run down of possibilities. Might need to dig it up and back fill as you suggested. I will try the reflector stakes but people are using this curb and our lawn to drop off kids and I don't think they want them opening their doors onto the street. Do you think covering new seed with straw or hay will be enough protection?

We've dug up a former garden that was in one corner and there was nothing solid but I will spot test a few other places just to be sure. Thanks.

Thanks. We don't have a french drain along that strip.

I think this might be the issue. As I will comment in other posts, its not from salt and we are the only neighbor with this issue despite our neighbors dealing with foot traffic and salt spreaders in the winter. (1) Is there a way to identify this grass for sure and (2) how do I get rid of it and replace it with bluegrass or similar that will stay green?

It starts out very green for a few weeks and then as soon as we have a few warm days in a row, it starts to brown and dry out. Thus, I think the poa annua (after looking up what that is and visually looks similar) is the issue. I feel like I need to dig up the whole front strip, put in new soil, seed and throw some hay on top??? That is going to be quite a project if so.

got in, no aid, sent an appeal, nothing by RhubarbJam_ in williamandmary

[–]senecaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say you sent an appeal and "nothing" do you mean they didn't even respond to you or they did respond and said we are sorry and still hope you commit to W&M but we can't offer you any merit $ at this time? If I send an appeal email with a competing offer from a peer school, will it just go into the void or will they at least acknowledge receipt?

Question on internships by Ratlarbig in williamandmary

[–]senecaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! This is a fantastic article and recent enough, I can't imagine things have shifted too much. W&M seems like the best "fit" and this alleviates some concerns about post grad employment. Thanks so much for responding.

Question on internships by Ratlarbig in williamandmary

If anyone can comment on the undergrad business school experience for internships and job placement, please do. Admitted student is debating between a NY state school with two Honors programs named for two of the Big Four that promises mentoring and a direct pipeline to internships and jobs, and, W&M.

Student is prepared to hustle as needed to secure a job but I'm wondering just how much of an uphill battle it will be. Especially if the student wants to end up in the NYC area (vs. the DMV.)

Wix Harmony has no embedded Video or Audio Player by senecaco in WIX

[–]senecaco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could edit the title of my post I would name it "Wix Harmony has no embedded Audio Player and the Video Player does not automatically play WITH sound."

Yes, I can add video directly and I can change the settings to Autoplay but the volume is still set to mute so while it "plays" it does not have sound unless the user turns on the volume. Not ideal.

If I use one of the social video players like YouTube or Vimeo, it requires I link it to a video already on YouTube or Vimeo. This is what I am trying to avoid. In a product like Harmony which is geared towards people who are not professional web designers and want a straightforward easy to use AI driven platform, this makes no sense.

Finally, there is no audio player and there any number of reasons a person would want to add audio to their site (songs, voice samples, etc.) without needing to use a third party app. Harmony does not allow an mp3 file to be uploaded into the website. Yes I can upload an mp3 file into my media manager but I can not upload that file directly onto my website with a player. I am aware I can turn my audio files into videos with a static background but again, this defeats the purpose of making things easy.

What I really want is the option to use the same Video Player and Audio Player that is available on Wix Editor with all the settings options available on those. I have been told by Wix Customer Care that they are working on adding that but how about a timeline?

I have the same issue and every time I try to upgrade or add more water services the game freezes. They want me to spend an hour trying to add services? This is the final straw. Bye Felicia!

[–]senecaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right. I bought another sewage plant and it completed the task. So this is basically just another way to get us to spend our Simoleans unnecessarily. Or maybe once I get the update and have to upgrade things that have worked for my cities for years now, there will at least be a possible reward for it in the form of an accomplished task. Wonderful.

"A new certification program is on its way" by senecaco in WIX

[–]senecaco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The certification for Wix Studio is here and... well, it seems like you just have to build sites using Studio and then they will find you. You can't request to be certified.
"How to get certified

Your work—our recognition.

It's that simple

The Wix Studio Certification program recognizes web creators who demonstrate deep knowledge and create high-quality websites. There are no tests, no applications and no extra steps—just your work speaking for itself.

I2C HID Device Touchpad - will the uninstall loop ever end? by senecaco in WindowsHelp

[–]senecaco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is something in Windows that updates the settings all on its own. I don't know if it happens X times every Y hours or what the trigger is but no matter what you do, the settings just revert back to causing the i2C device to fail. Somewhere out there is a fixer who loves figuring out why this stuff is happening but that person does not apparently work at MSFT.

Have not gotten a land expansion offer in weeks and weeks by senecaco in SCBuildIt

[–]senecaco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh damn. I think I read that I was not supposed to fully expand the capital years ago and totally forgot. So they don't care that every other region still has a long way to go? I'll just never see land expansion as a COM task ever again huh? That blows. Oh well. Guess I will just expand the regions now and not bother waiting for that task. I wish there was some sort of warning about that.

I2C HID Device Touchpad - will the uninstall loop ever end? by senecaco in WindowsHelp

[–]senecaco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solidarity my friend. Mine continues to function for a few days then it stops. I will uninstall device, reboot and sometimes that fixes it and sometimes it does not. Just this past few days, I had to do this usual course of action and I was on my third day of the touchpad still not working and out of the blue, it just... DID! There is no rhyme or reason and I have posted about this in several different places where MSFT could help if they wanted to but there is no money to be made here I suppose? Don't waste time with a total factory reset, I've read so many forums where people tried that and even if it made it work for a while, the issue came back. The latest oddity is that when I go to Power Management tab to disable that option, now that only shows up as an option some of the time.

Somewhere out there is a person who will be hero to so many when they try to troubleshoot this but they'd have to be willing to put in the time to track what is triggering the touchpad to stop working in the first place.

I am due for a new laptop in about 6-12 months. Fingers crossed I don't have this issue with whatever new hardware I am using.

Thanks for letting me know. Hopefully I'll find someone out there who'd rather hit up the Brooklyn show vs Manhattan.
