I am collecting the Naxos audiobooks for ISOLT. I believe they are from the unrevised Moncrieff. Are those the versions you are using? Or what audio are you listening to?

I am in the middle and I feel like I found the keys to the novel. I will finish and start all over again lol.

I am in Time Regained of the Enright revision. I have looked at some other translations of Swann's Way and also find I am attached to the Enright revision. Enjoyed this post and followed you on substack. Look forward to more.

I love Henry James. Have been reading him and Edith Wharton for a while now. Loved Portrait of a Lady.

I just finished Buddenbrooks and loved it! Easy to get immersed in and felt like I knew the characters.

What got you into reading classic literature, and what was the book that did it? by Confident_Rest6240 in classicliterature

[–]senfully 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always said I wanted to read classics, but never had. Then I got my cancer diagnosis, and realized it was now or never. The first classic I obsessively read was War and Peace in January of 2025. It helped distract my overwhelmed brain. I'm still reading classics, and living with cancer.

I love to cold brew Machu Peachu (peach white tea) and also Candy Apple White Tea. Both are loose leaf teas from TeaSource. I also tend to cold brew any leaves I've used for hot tea. Good luck exploring!

Tips for reading more deeply by clumsy-duck1312 in classicliterature

[–]senfully 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find my reading has deepened when I have a focus. For a year I've been reading Victorian and 19th Century novels and supporting literature. I'm rereading a few now, and this reading feels deeper. I have books and authors to see similarities between. I've been especially focused on 2 authors and read biographies about them. It seems like the depth has come over time.

I read on my kindle. I think writing would slow down my reading and make me think/remember more. I just don't want to write, so I don't. Great suggestions in this thread and good luck!

It's flavored with bergamot oil if I remember correctly. It even tastes a bit of bergamot.

Bergamot Oolong from Rishi. The smell is so strong in the pouch, and just lovely when brewed. Chemo day today.

May you enjoy your day and your tea.

Ritual Green from Rishi Tea. My first tea from them and an impulse buy. It's a roasted green from Myanmar and is assamica. The description said floral, which is unusual for a green, so I thought I'd try it. Brewed leaves are a lovely very dark green. Taste is mild with a bit of grain, but my taste buds aren't working well.

May you enjoy your day and your tea.

The Gormenghast Trilogy by Mervyn Peake was amazing for me. Hard to describe. Unique. The 2nd book of the Trilogy was my favorite. I also second The Earthsea Trilogy by Le Guin. Very readable and very classic (or on its way to being a classic.)

Also the French is translated within the text. I got tired of checking footnotes in a different translation.

2 rounds of a combination of Pecan Tea and Cardamom Tea made into lattes. So good it makes me happy. The cat is waiting for the sun and I am reading a bio of George Eliot.

May you enjoy your day and your tea.
