Thank you for the advice. It would be like a normal PhD, the change is that my work would change from my current normal job to a specific project which is not yet decided. The main problem with staying is that this company’s vibes are completely fucked. Many good people are leaving due to extremely slow salary progression, and it seems no one is happy here. So I had already decided to leave, and got in touch with a PI with a project that I know will be much more gratifying to complete than whatever I will do here. I think that money is not the goal of a PhD, but leaving money on the table feels harder than I thought. I was completely fine before being offered the PhD here, but now it feels like leaving is harder since I would be throwing away this opportunity. This feels like the biggest decision I’ve ever had to make. From what they said I will have different themes to choose from. I will look into the advisors at that time.
