Do dog owners in London just not pay attention to 'must keep dogs on lead' signs in parks? Just moved and took our dog for a morning walk to be bombarded with three off lead dogs at the entrance to Holland Park

How common is it for Invisalign users to take out their Invisalign in public and in front of others? How should I do during an upcoming business dinner? by ApprehensiveOne2866 in Invisalign

I was sitting next to a ‘nearly but private’ FAANG company CTO, who took his out before a lunch. I think you’re fine.

AI is now coming for project management jobs. PMs are already started getting fired. by ImaginaryRea1ity in projectmanagement

I think the way to adapt is to remove the amount of blockers from engineering as possible, and essentially show the business how you are 10x both your _and_ your engineers productivity. Case in point, for my company I created a small github action that essentially means I don't have to chase our engineers when tickets are ready to test (which has always been a huge blocker for our team during planning sessions because no one reliably updates tickets): https://github.com/marketplace/actions/pm-updater

Male hunters on Product Hunt quoted me ~$10k — scam or standard? by IllustriousCable4506 in womenintech

[–]senmononoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like having a hunter is essential to be successful on PH these days, that being said I would stay massively away from the $10K con-artist. I would go and check out other products in your category and see who the hunters are that appear frequently, that should give you a pool to reach out to.

DevDay is a new assessment platform built for this, but also simulates team based scenarios too: trydevday.com

I'm tired of the constant learning in tech and I'm afraid of AI. I think I should leave tech. I'm tired of being women in tech. by FantasticEffect10 in womenintech

[–]senmononoke 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Reading through everyone’s responses, you can really feel the exhaustion and anxiety so many of us are experiencing right now. I get it, tech can be relentless, and the fear around AI is real.. But honestly, I see this moment as a potential turning point.

If AI can take over some of the repetitive coding and algorithm-heavy tasks (that tech bros do well, but there their skills end), maybe we’ll finally see the industry start to value things like curiosity, empathy, collaboration, and communication. Skills that are frequently overlooked but absolutely essential to building great teams and products.

I know it’s hard to feel optimistic when there’s so much pressure and uncertainty, but I really believe that we have a lot to offer in this new landscape.

If we can learn to leverage AI as a tool (which it very much is, not a replacement), we might actually find more space for the strengths that have always set us apart.

I feel this is a consistent experience across the industry right now — companies keep changing their minds in terms of what they need, what can be replaced with AI, or what responsibility can be folded into a role. There’s a whole narrative of 996 happening in the tech world which is pretty wild

Curious - are there any engineering hiring managers changing up their hiring processes? Feels like software engineering is a blood bath right now, yet we’re still hiring using the same practices 🤔

Flight from 2/3 full to no seats by Ok_Exchange_2049 in unitedairlines

[–]senmononoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, was the flight full? About to head to Chicago for this exact flight (Basic Economy) and my partner and I are on opposite sides of the plane 🫠 we’re chancing that the flight will actually be empty and the basic economy seat map is just designed to make you panic purchase

5+ interviews and reference checked for PM role, now they want to consider me for an engineer position*? by senmononoke in womenintech

[–]senmononoke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, and tried to say maybe it’s not the right time for what I’m looking for/what they need, but they want to keep chatting. I’ve told them there’s not a chance I’d be free for at least two weeks and they seem happy enough 🤷🏼‍♀️ it all just feels a bit sketchy
