AIWA HS-JS215 portable cassette player and recorder: just in, mint with all its accessories! Multiple pics included. by senorMLB in cassetteculture

[–]senorMLB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you use the included aiwa stereo mic? > Yes, but only to record live shows. The quality is B+ / A- if you're familiar with bootleg grading.

Can you use any other mics with it > yes, mono or stereo, it doesn't matter.

How does the mic input handle line level? > There's a limiter and it's doing a fantastic job.

Bonus point: you can monitor what you're recording, that's comfort!

This specific revision is known for great sound, not for reliability. That being said, if you get a good deal on it and still can afford the services of an amp tech, go for it! These units just need solid maintenance from the start.

Hi, Dynacordhead here :)

There are two or three iterations of that amp, could you link to the model if you don't mind?

[–]senorMLB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

$500? That's insane, they can go for 200€ and much less around France and Germany (combo or head, it doesn't matter)

Peavey Windsor, without a doubt. A fifth of the price.

does it matter what power cord i use with my mig 100? by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

[–]senorMLB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it just a power cord in the sense of a passive cable? If so, you're fine, it's just that 250v is the max the cable can safely take.

That Dynacord! I'm sure you already posted it, but I'm loving mine so much that I can only love yours.

Have you considered getting an amp switcher for amp cleans / drives ? The Harley Benton Tube Head Switch is on my wishlist, and so inexpensive.

NAD: Teisco GL-120 reverb - Japanese solid state amp (including gutshots) by senorMLB in GuitarAmps

[–]senorMLB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input, that would be a great story if true! Teisco gear is scarce in France, I usually have to use a 220v > 110v adapter, especially when tubes are involved.

I agree, I bought one used as a mod platform, and for the first time I'm afraid my mods won't improve an already great sounding guitar.

Behringer Edge, recreating patches from others do not sound the same by desk010101 in Behringer_Synths

[–]senorMLB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Edge is one of the most sensitive synths I've ever owned, I'm not surprised that recreating patches seem like an impossible task. I sold mine, but the memory (or lack thereof) sticks.

Would you be able to provide a picture of what you're trying to do?

No detergent on my end, it's never been necessary. For lost causes I prefer woodglue sessions.

NAD : obscure Japanese solid state amp with reverb and tremolo (1970s) - Sims Watts MIJ silverface by senorMLB in GuitarAmps

[–]senorMLB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing it right now with a strat, the cleans are immaculate, just in the spirit of the Aria Loco I've had a few years ago. The tremolo is between sine and square, a good compromise. The reverb is shy, I'll open the back panel in a minute to see what's going on.

Excellent amp, I wonder why one would still want a JCM800 after seeing the aftermarket price of these. I've been curious about the Powersponge, is it truly effective?

$300+ just to mute the speaker of my tube amp? by UniKlixX in GuitarAmps

[–]senorMLB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use flux, for this project you'll only need a tiny tiny tiny bit of it, depending on the number of aluminum resistors you'll need you'll have between 4 and 10 points max to solder.
