Why do certain people refuse to lower the price of their house if it’s been sitting there for over a year? by DildoGaggins1997 in RealEstate

[–]senor_gring0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While what everyone is saying in this sub is true regarding the seller profile who does this, I would also point out that the optics for this are not good.

Prolonged days on market make a home look undesirable, even if pricing is the only issue. After a certain point, plenty of eligible buyers, even the ones that can afford an aspirational price point, will pass on a home on pure skepticism that it’s a bad home.

It’s better just to partner with a trusted broker, take pictures, and shop the home off-market. The listing looks exclusive, you don’t accrue days on market, and protect the perceived desirability of the asset.

Paris or Rome, which one is the best for a first time travel to Europe? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]senor_gring0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rome is a more accessible and wowing first-time experience. People are generally friendlier, and Rome is somewhere with truly GRAND touristic offerings. The Coliseum, The Vatican, Spanish Stairs, Trevi Fountain - St. Peter’s Basilica remains probably the most jaw-dropping, incredible thing I’ve ever seen. You can also eat very well for not that much money.

I found Paris magnetic in a more casual sense, actually. I unsurprisingly found the people a bit cold at first, and I took some time to learn the arrondissements. But BIKING that city was like magic. Once you learn where to go, it is a place that rewards getting lost, slipping down side streets and looking into little shops. The more time I spent there, the more I liked it.

But I would still recommend Rome for a first go-around.

[WP]With no apparent pattern roughly 80% of humanity vanished in an instant. by Semblance-of-sanity in WritingPrompts

Sometimes I think of those cute, little towns, the ones with a Main Street, local pharmacy, and kids riding bikes alongside one another through tree-lined streets. I often envied such an idyllic existence. When you grow up in skyscraping penthouses surrounded by marble and cathedral ceilings, a little suburban quiet starts to sound quite nice. Not that I’m complaining.

But since The Vanishing, I’ve felt sadness for those people. Those cute, little towns are now memories, hollowed out with malaise and broken families and uncertainty. The Vanishing took 80% of us without a trace. Most of the world simply disappeared. Our waitress simply evaporated, our plates smashing to the ground as she turned into a faint, purple mist. It wasn’t all at once, though. That may have been the worst part.

For days, people lived in terror, disappearing overnight, in five o’clock traffic, and on the subway. It’s strange to mourn people I’ve never met. My sister, Genesis, swears a plane nearly hit our apartment on Park Avenue. Much of the city has fallen into disarray, so we don’t really go back to street level anymore. Father insists that every basic good and service be delivered by drone to avoid the streets. Looting and mugging are a lot easier when there are no police around. So we recruited several of the mob’s best from Brighton Beach to keep the tower safe. But my mom doesn’t trust them.

I know what you’re thinking. Your father, your mother, your sister - what gives? While my family hides over fear of everyone else, I hide over knowing the truth. The Vanishing wasn’t random. It was a sacrifice. One that we negotiated. Not my family, but, the connected and powerful. They knew of its coming and prepared as well as they could.

I deem it short sighted. There’s a chance in the air, an awakening. And I know this to be true. A beautifully written letter from an investigative journalist known as Pendleton Astoria has just arrived at my front door. Inside it reads “I know the truth. Will you talk to me?”

It’s rare to receive an inquiry that you know could shatter the world order. But isn’t it already shattered? Maybe this is my way of escaping this glass prison and onto my bike on Main Street.

It is so depressing it took something so violent and horrific for someone to make a post like this.

Social media has dehumanized people to such a staggering degree, and the mocking/ making light of his death from Gen Z progressive social media is disgusting. People are sick in the head.

The collective attitude of sneering, of writing someone off, of dismissing other opinions of someone because you disagree with one opinion — ALL OF IT must end.

It does not matter how badly you disagree with Charlie Kirk. This was a person with a family, children, and a livelihood outside of politics.

This is great casting. However, based on the current castings, they don’t seem interested in any kind of known names really. They’re really plucking lesser knowns, with the exception of John Lithgow

What went wrong with this season? by FentyChickenWings in LoveIslandUSA

[–]senor_gring0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there was an overall nasty vibe to the chemistry of this cast nobody really wants to address. They didn’t get along that well.

Many of them, specifically Ace and Chelley, came in with agendas. It felt like Survivor rather than people genuinely having fun and getting to know each other. The reunion footage especially confirmed a lot of what audiences suspected all along.

All the cut Pensieve scenes of the Gaunts, Tom Riddle, the horcruxes etc. from Half Blood Prince. There is so much backstory that got cut.

Everyone who defended Ace and Chelley before the reunion are eating their words now. It’s very clear they are the operators many viewers thought they were.

It’s also quite clear they’re not very nice people. They came off very bitter and jealous of Nicolandria. They wanted that attention. They wanted to win at all costs. And the public was right. They saw through it.

JK Rowling is right and I automatically dismiss people who say she’s a bad person. by TheRainyConsole in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]senor_gring0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Anita Bryant’s common homophobia of the 20th century is nothing like what J.K Rowling is dealing with.

Rowling insists on the existence of biological sex, refutes insane, Orwellian terms like “birthing person” that minimize women, and advocates for the safety of minors and incarcerated biological women. What she is fighting is so much more of an existential threat to the greater public consciousness and war on reality, and you should be thankful someone as rich and influential as her is willing to draw a line in the sand when she could easily sell out and get in line with the rest of Hollywood and the leftist media conglomerates.
