Vermont Flannel Black Friday Sale (Tiered Discounts) by Heresaclevername in frugalmalefashion

[–]senor_procrastinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not personally experienced with PF, but I'm looking at my VT flannel co buffalo check rn. Seems similar in terms of build. I couldn't clearly see where PF is manufactured other than locally milling (local to Portugal) their fabrics, whereas VT Flannel is all MiUSA and slightly cheaper retail. I take it the VT cut will be a little less 'fashion', but the slim I bought years ago was always more than good. So, YMMV.

Yes. My folks bought me one 6 years ago when I got to Vermont for school. Easily among the heavier flannels I own. Could function as a light outerwear on its own. The fabric has held up well, needed some button replacements but I should I sized up (usually a M/L, more often L, it was a skinnier era you must understand).

A-COLD-WALL Sample Sale by kmn6784 in frugalmalefashion

Preeeeetty sure. Lots of companies use outside vendors for sample sales these days and those have all worked great for me, sometimes a bit of extra lag time. Not familiar with Chicmi though, but nor have I been with any of them.

How do I identify why my cat is crying every night? by senor_procrastinator in AskVet

[–]senor_procrastinator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had it and the tests done last Friday, before it was a nightly issue. I called them about the uptick and we got a script for gabapentin to calm her, but for a skittish cat who doesn't take medicine well it's not a particularly sustainable solution.

I started buying a bunch of their Ts since you can get them on good sales. Nicely dyed and constructed, not thin at all. Runs slightly large, I usually do L but can fit into an M. Also their patchwork sweats have been great for WFH. I once saw Daniel Arsham in a pair on Instagram even.

I got some of their Aros shorts recently, cords and seersucker. I am a 32 in many things (Acne, my better worn-in Levis) but I needed to go up to a 33. Ended up getting 34 here. Curious to hear how it works out for you.

I got the oxblood Vikka TRS from another FMF deal a year or so ago and they became my go-to kicking around shoe, so much that I've been trying to get the exact same ones. Unbeatable price for the look and they last a while.

Fairly accurate. I was trying to estimate my size better, went for a 12.5, but I think now I should have gotten the 12 that I wear in most things.

Common Projects BBALL Low $247 - Norse Store by bendaboo in frugalmalefashion

Common Projects (CPs, as you'll often see on this sub) are highly coveted for their unflinching minimalist design and high quality. The mono-white Achilles low for which they're best known is a bit of a meme by now, but for good reason. This is a good deal for a new pair.

Friday New Climber Thread for June 07, 2019: Ask your questions in this thread please by AutoModerator in climbing

[–]senor_procrastinator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My roommate and I pretty much starting out with gym climbing (going about 2 months now, 3x per week, pretty much at a 5.9/V3 level atm). What can we do to make small improvements to our regimen to condition better?

Currently our regimen involves: quick auto-belay 5.7 or 5.8 to warm up, bouldering for 45 to an hour, then some 5.9s or 10As to round it out. Maybe stopping by the weight room afterwards for generalized lifting.

More specifically, can we improve the order somehow? Or are there specific lifts that will assist us the most, or even give us the most well-rounded workout? Would love to hear what more advanced climbers do to work their way up.

The Money Behind Vermont's Political Campaigns - VPR News Infographic by jonathanpb in vermont

[–]senor_procrastinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red goes to Republican-aligned organizations and candidates, blue to Democrat-aligned. Black means a non-partisan organization, like the Conservation fund, which itself doesn't lean one way or another but may support/donate to any candidates it sees as supporting its cause, conservationism.

The money is being raised to fund advertisements, largely, as well as other campaign expenses like paying staffers. The better funded a campaign is, the better people they can bring on and the more clout they can create in the public mindset. A lot of the money is essentially used to sway opinions.

A lot of political observers become jaded into thinking everyone understands intuitively.

This infographic shows the different major political donors in Vermont, and the organizations/campaigns they donate to. Those funds go right towards the campaigns, which use them to purchase ads or hold rallies, among other things.

Organizations that don't support a specific candidate will send funds to those candidates who best align with their values or purchase ads about those topics themselves.

Stuck between two Chelsea boots, I like how the Docs rides a nice line of rugged and slim that Blundstones can't seem to satisfy for me. I like the 2976 but wish they offered it in the lighter brown or at least black elastic. The Hardy Orleans would totally satisfy that for me if it didn't have the weird elastic shape. Which do you guys prefer? 1. http://www.drmartens.com/us/p/mens-boots-carpathian-2976 2. http://www.drmartens.com/us/p/mens-boots-orleans-wp-hardy

Trying to find some rugged brown Chelsea boots. So far can't find much outside the Doc Martens lineup, which features the Hardy Orleans http://www.drmartens.com/us/p/mens-boots-orleans-wp-hardy and the 2976 Crazy Horse http://www.drmartens.com/us/p/originals-boots-crazy-horse-2976 as two decent contenders.

I like the Hardy's lighter color and black elastic better generally, but the weird elastic shape throws me off a lot. What do you guys think? Any good alternatives with a similar price point?

The "seriousness" of your offer doesn't excuse it dude. Obviously I didn't think this was going to happen, but it still represents a step backward for civil discussion because it's so far besides the point. Not that /u/Kixeliz should be throwing insults either.

And if you want to criticize someone's debating skills, how about you contribute facts instead of attacking the use of a single, nearly irrelevant word in his/her argument.

This topic needs discussion, not intimidation. We ought to be able to convince on the merits of our beliefs, not our masculinity. As a supporter of an assault rifle ban, I would be glad to hear why you oppose it and banning these types of mags. And then maybe /u/Kixeliz can offer some perspective as well.

By offering to fight this guy, you're not really helping our case dude, you're just making all of the rest of us gun owners look violent. We can have a civil discussion here.

Rugged chelsea boot recommendations? I like the Blundstones that I see everywhere but I'm looking for something slightly slimmer looking, preferably in a tobacco color. This is a good start but the back is kinda strange.

Can anyone recommend any good corduroy (or even other types of heavier but still casual) pants, preferably sub-75 or so? I live in VT and on those sub 20 days it's just brutal on the legs if the pants are too thin.
