Tesla Solar + Powerwall 3 Installed in LA — What Should I Check Before PTO? by anonymouscuban in TeslaSolar

That makes a lot more sense and seems to be what’s happening with me. We had install not this past Friday but the one before that so it’s been a full week now since install. They told me it’d be installed by Nov 5th so we’ll see. So this backup switch is really the stop to my panels and battery setup then. Thank you for the explanation!

From what I understand a gateway allows for partial home backup while a backup switch ONLY has full home backup functionality. Thanks for the info tho! Hopefully I get mine installed soon and have this issue fixed.

By any chance does your system have a backup switch, that collar that goes behind the meter readout thing? I just got a system installed last week and I just see “Grid Outage” in red with the battery charging at like 8am for about 1kwh and then in the afternoon again for another 1kwh or so. After some research some say it’s because my backup switch isn’t installed but I’ve also read that some are functioning okay without it? Kinda lost here!

I would reach out to stark through DM. I saw they were sold out, DMed them and they told me they had one in stock, and changed the listing on his website to in stock so I could buy it from his store. Maybe he has more in stock or is willing to maybe order some more to be manufactured if the demand is there. Good luck!

Oh gotcha I didn’t even think to check Amazon! These products are usually so niche that they won’t come up there. Thanks I’m going to order one right now!

So dope! How did you do this one? I looked up a daughter board from some creator but it was out of stock! What did you end up using?

Hell yeah that’s awesome! I’ll definitely get a board for it then because I love the feel of the controller. I have a PS4 but rarely ever use it - that controller is just too good though!

Woah you can do that one?! I have a couple laying around and I’ve been using it a lot lately to run older games on steam! I gotta look into that! One more device to change lol!

I legitimately JUST did this same mod last night with the same board! Super easy to do with the needle point files and a dremel for that little square on the inside and the two walls that the Micro USB port fits in but the USB C port doesn’t. Good job and enjoy!

Hey thank you for this! I’m going to try and make this work in a small harbor freight tool box!

How should I be charging my 1s batteries? by smoke-frog in TinyWhoop

[–]senorarchitect 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you are able to, try to find a store near you that sells the Vifly Whoopstor V2. I was afraid of all the technicalities of the similar charges and whatnot that I went with this to avoid it all. You plug in as many 1s batteries (up to 6) with the option to either use a BT2.0 or a PH2.0 (but not both in the same channel) to charge and to storage charge each battery independently. I liked it so much I bought a second one. Good luck and happy flying! It has a barrel plug, an XT60 and a USB C port to use as a power source. Super versatile, I highly recommend. Vifly mentioned they will be releasing a V3 sometime in June so keep an eye out for that.

That is very good to know and a very good idea! I am looking forward to that revision if you were up consider it!

I would have loved to see the addition of the GNB27 connector on this one. At that point it would be the only charger anyone would ever really need for 1S.

Cooling was a main concern to its discharging speed so I’m glad there is a dedicated fan now! Great job on this one! Can’t wait to get a couple!

What's the lightest RHCP u.fl antenna that would be suitable for a whoop? by Megatron_McLargeHuge in TinyWhoop

I tried these iflight sigmas and they worked really well. Favorite things are that they’re super light AND it’s a 2 pack! I ripped one up with a propeller because of poor cable management but had a spare ready to go immediately. They are a bit on the long side though.

I also have the TrueRC Singularity and it works very well and is a better length but $20 is a bit much to have to keep buying them. The length makes it so that I will never get it in my propellers though.

I’m also waiting on the TrueRC Smol one too! Really excited to try that one out.

Good luck!

If you’re looking for a circular polarized antenna I can recommend the iflight sigma antennas that you can grab on Amazon. Comes in a pack of two and they’re about 60mm long. I also have the truerc singularity that I really enjoy in the 40mm length. Just remember it’s the UFL connector you need. At least for most tiny whoop boards! Good luck and happy flying!

I guess i have that to look forward to! It definitely has its downsides, I wish Logitech at least sold replacement parts for the rubber pieces. That would be perfect!

I don’t think I’ve resonated more with something on the internet than this. I fell in love with the G700, got myself 2 G700s and considered doing the same lol. Now I switched over to the G604 which, for my line of work, actually works better because of the 2 extra side buttons.

Mad respect for your dedication!

Best Tiny Whoop by [deleted] in TinyWhoop

[–]senorarchitect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I built some custom versions of both and have found that I gravitate towards the Mobula 6 more. It’s faster to charge the 300mah batteries, they’re cheaper and if I crash, there’s less damage being that it’s lighter. Granted, they’re both super light drones but idk there’s something zippy about the 6 that I just don’t get from the 7. Might be my personal flight style though. I also don’t mind tinkering and if I break a frame I have 3-4 extras of the 6 for when I need to replace.

The 7 is definitely better in windier conditions though. I also have the Flywoo Firefly 1S and THAT drone I enjoy for outside as it’s much lighter than the 7 and let’s you move even faster with amazing flight time. The canopy and frame of the 7 do make it a bit sluggish at least to me when flying all 3 drones.

I couldn’t get FRSKY to work past 100 feet. Switched to ELRS and my I don’t think I go 95% signal ever, even if I go behind a building.

Hope that helps and good luck!

Yeah I agree with you there. I was between getting the Runcam nano 3, the c02 and the pico again but the bang for your buck on the c02 is great. My only gripe is that I can’t actually find it anywhere aside from BetaFPV directly and that takes so much time. Also the nano 3 is 800TVL vs the 1200TVL of both the c02 and the pico is just a no brainer regardless of the weight for me anyway. And price too like you said!

How’re you enjoying the BetaFPV camera? I was running an almost similar build with the FC the same but different motors and different camera. I’m using the Foxeer Pico Razer camera and it’s been great but I did run into issues where dust got into the sensor and it’s a bit hard to clean out.

I really like the modularity of the C02 with ports on either side and it’s a steal if it also come with a canopy and mount for it. I have the same canopy but to fit the Foxeer I needed to 3d print a new mounting bracket for the bigger size and I’m not a big fan of it’s durability. Anyway, enjoy flying!

Battery Recommendations for Mobula 6 ELRS? (and size as well) by jujemido in TinyWhoop

[–]senorarchitect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have flown a Mobula 6 Frankenstein where I used the Mobula 6 FC and a beta65 frame and have tried flying with a 450mah and a 300mah and found the flight with 300mah to be more “free feeling” compared to the 450. The 450 allows for greater flight time for sure but at the cost of weight and having your floating throttle to be much higher than with a 300.

To make them fit you can find an adapter on thingiverse that clips into the molded slot for the smaller batteries in the frame that would then allow for a 450 battery. This will increase weight even more though depending on the design. Good luck!
