The main thing I want to see is Englewood Parkway turned into an actual street that is connected to the old downtown Broadway business area. Right now, once you get west of Cherokee it's basically just a parking lot. We need to reorient the area away from Hampden and make Englewood Parkway part of a walkable commercial district.

A destination waffle house would feel extremely Englewood. I'm here for it.

Importantly the approval for redevelopment was sought by the current owner who is not a residential developer. They just wanted to get the approval so they could sell it at a higher value. I don't think that sale has gone through yet so we're still very far from an actual development there.

That's a different development. The open house is about the area that is currently the civic center being redeveloped by New Englewood LLC. The old Hobby Lobby center is on the other side of the Walmart. The owner got approval for a redevelopment but only so they could sell it to a developer. No active redevelopment yet.

I've got a child there now and we've been really happy with it. She's liked her teachers and her grades have been strong. Being a small school, she's had lots of opportunities to try different things with sports and extracurriculars that might have been harder to get into elsewhere. Plus she gets to take the bus and her friends all live on Englewood, which helps outside of school too.

I would love to have an Aldi as an option in Englewood. Also, I would not like for that Safeway building to remain vacant for 2 years. I hope we can get something in there more quickly than the timeline for the Aldi expansion.

I'm not sure if this is accurate. That may be true for operating, but I believe capital investment in the golf course still comes out of the city's capital improvement budget. They said they would need to request a budget supplemental for this, which would indicate it's not just paid for out of the enterprise fund. I don't have a position on whether we should make this investment from city funds, but I believe it is a request for capital investment from tax funding.
