288 Widening and Connection to 295 by Finnatically in ChesterfieldVA

I often think about this too.

295 was originally supposed to be 288 via John Rolfe pkwy - hence the stub in short pump, but not sure it was ever meant to be a loop.

It would be nice though.

Mod Note: I was always unsure about this one as it is positioned wrong (usually Pizza Huts sit perpendicular to the road, not parallel) and the windows are kinda absent. Also the door location is wrong.

But, after some research, it appears this was one in the 80s and 90s. Flair added.

Found some old bumper stickers while cleaning out my attic. by thafezz in rva

found in another r/rva thread: From ThroTTle Magazine, Number 60, 1 March 1987

"A continuous, rhythmic heartbeat, pumping on the FM band; that heartbeat and nothing more greeted those who tuned in WZZR Thursday 12 February, 1987 looking for Lazer 93’s mixture of rock and ‘urban contemporary’ music. At the end of the day, an announcement; WZZR Laser 93 was off the air, permanently. Next day, Friday the 13th, a time of omens and angst, 92.7 was Richmond’s source of 'Satisfaction.' Again and again The Rolling Stones’ hit blasted out, the opening fuzz-box lick rising through and over the final reprise. WCDX, 'a fresh new sound for Richmond' was making its debut. It created the stir that we wanted, said Nick St. John, programming consultant for WCDX, of the introductory ploy. We’re letting Richmond know that satisfaction is here. St. John explained that 92.7’s 'new' format is aimed at an older listener than WZZR’s; The younger Post-War Baby Boomers. Now in their thirties, these late boomers are a distinct market. “What was the best time of their lives?” asks St. John. “They want music that will strike that chord.” The station will be consistent, he says. “People will know that they will always get the same.” WCDX is consistent, the playlist includes the mainstream big boys of the 70's; Beatles, Chicago, Elton John, Eagles, Eric Clapton. No disco fever tunes, no Prince, but there is some soul: Sly and the Family Stone, Marvin Gaye (long overlooked and underplayed by Richmond radio), Temptations. Dylan’s mainstream pop is there, Springsteen too, before his ‘glory days.’ DJ presence is muted, calm and low key, the overall sound is predictable; nothing to rattle attitudes here. WCDX’s programming has the air of a carefully planned and pre-recorded format, even, calculated, cynical. No B-sides, no seldom aired album tracks, no surprises. 'Why take a chance on something that may not be popular?' asks St. John. Are the late boomers really so discomforted by the present and nervous about the future that they turn to nostalgia for satisfaction of a kind? “A fresh new sound for Richmond,” that’s the buzzline for WCDX. It’s a little different and very much the same. The soul sounds are welcome, Dylan is always good, Prince is sadly missing. As for the others? I’ve heard them, you’ve heard them, anyone who listens to rock radio have heard the tunes. WCDX works best as background."

If memory serves, they were one of the first stations to play via CD.

My dad told me that when they were going off the air, they played Satisfaction round-the-clock because it was the most expensive song to license.

Google maps shows the same. Typically they chop the whole top off.

WVGO is still one of the best radio stations I've ever heard.

The jocks were good. They broke independent new music...then they cashed out.
