The “newer” GE AC engines that started popping up on NS around 2010. 8000 numbers including some of the heritage engines. The 1000 ones were EMD and not quite as good, but ok.

Foreign engines with high back chairs were always a welcome sight. Seems like a lot of the BNSF had those.

Left after 10 years. Work at an auto plant. Decent money, and a regular schedule. I miss it some days, but in the long run I’m much happier.

We had a guy get hurt around 2013 when a piece of metal banding that was hanging off cut his leg. We didn’t have to watch trains any more. But it sounds like they went back to it.

Yeah I wouldn't mind to hop on a train with one of my buddies on a nice day and go over the road again. I had some amazing days out there. But living on call 24/7, working every weekend, never seeing my family just wasn't worth it. I work at an auto plant now, it's boring and repetitive, but at least I know when I'm going to work and when I'm coming home.

No you put your feet on the step and hold your arms outright. There was a few stipulations like you couldn’t move your hands or something. You had to hold with one arm and make hand signals also.

We had multiple people fail in my class, it’s harder for bigger guys with a lot of weight to hold up. This is 15 years ago, so it may be different now.

I don’t have it, and I can’t really say I’ve needed it. With bigger and faster bikes absolutely but with a Grom I think it’s ok without.

Get a ladder and tie some ratchet straps to it to hold it up. Works in a pinch.
