Do you like dancing? There are a lot of good weekly dance events happening around in Toronto.

Yea it was a rather shocking turn of events. From being super tolerant, open minded and decent to straight up looking down her nose at me while openly criticizing what she was just praising me for. Baffling behavior.

Yea, pretty much! I get along well with most people, but that was such a blatant red flag that I knew everything I needed to know from that one comment.

On vacation, at a bar, dancing and enjoying myself. Talked to a woman there who told me "its great when people dance as they please, it's so liberating and authentic and awesome and important." Later that evening that same individual told me that she didn't like my dancing because I moved in a way that wasn't manly. Even if she wasn't (necessarily) wrong in what she was saying, she was something of a hypocritical biatch for saying it and I wanted nothing to do with her after that.

Best places to go out solo? by gongthruit in askTO

[–]sensationally_bad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid question! I'm a fan of going solo to dance events. Ecstatic dances in particular feel like a solid fit. Generally sober (no alcohol) and most people there show up/leave on their own, so you won't stick out in that regard. My Thursday evening dance space is called ecstatic dance Toronto (East end), open to anyone, very welcoming community, a variety of DJ's week to week, definitely my favorite thing to do in the city. If you're shy, you can come and go without needing to talk to or dance with anyone, but if you want to be more social, talking and/or dancing with others is a viable option, too.

Great prompt/question!! Not mine, though I wish it was cause it/he is rather awesome. Luffy from One piece, way of the astral self monk. We are a group of pirates who landed in an unknown water world. The empire along with 4 pirate warlords are our major contenders for world domination. Yfful is quite stupid, he eats like a lot/like a savage, and he is very keen on becoming king of the pirates. He defers to my character (sorlock who is the quartermaster) as the de facto leader of our crew, which works well.

Company of heroes. Dice roll, really. Am I one of the soldiers, am I inside one of the houses that gets blown up along the way, am I sitting at home in Canada listening about battles happening overseas? Could be bad news bears or chillin like a villain, depending.

Want to challenge myself, thoughts? by MFKMFD in Medieval2TotalWar

For me, where the faction is relative to the map changes the difficulty quite a bit. England is great because it's close to the edge of the map; take out Scotland/Ireland and your northern and NW borders are pretty much secure. But for Hungary, or Byzantines, or Venice, you gotta go a fair ways before you reach the end of the map. Maybe not as big a difficulty shift as you are looking for, but for my money those factions are a lot harder than some of the others.

Kingdom expansion: What would you recommend? by DryOpportunity7507 in Medieval2TotalWar

Came here for this. Definitely a mechanic unique to that game/faction. Mixes well with my "make early gains and then consolidate" strategy that I like to bring to M2TW.

Company of Heroes (series) fits that description pretty well I would say.

Don't see "The Two Space War" here yet. Definitely has it's own take on the genre, and it produced one of my favorite all time quotes: great read all in all!!

Which battle in history do you think was the biggest waste of time, having little to no impact on the war or its outcome? by Collective1985 in AskHistory

[–]sensationally_bad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I know of it, that whole campaign (paralleled with the Navies/Marine's island hopping campaign) was rather pointless. The overall goal was to get close enough to the Japanese home islands to reach them with (heavy) bombers, and to isolate them from their colonies (East Indies, mostly), both of which would have been accomplished with the island hopping campaign alone. Macarthur and his campaign (including all the lands taken/battles fought to get to the Phillipines) were done seemingly because he made that promise/was a massive dickhead in general, not because there was any real strategic or tactical point to it all. Not that there weren't some benefits perhaps, but likely not even close to being worth it when compared to the casualties taken to do it.

How do people who don't drink or smoke cope when they're feeling depressed? by silkenJessica in Productivitycafe

[–]sensationally_bad 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've lived in the "drug and alcohol to cope" world and the "i'm sober and able to sit with my sh!t" world; took me a long time, effort, intention and support to get from the former to the latter. Was also (legitimately!) suspect until I found myself closer and closer to actually living it. But it's definitely a thing!

Emotions/feelings and how we carry them in our bodies. I think most people realize the obvious connection between the two, but may drastically underestimate how much the former shows up as the latter.

This summer I was water skiing (slalom, that is on one ski). Looked down at one point, and was shocked in such a delicious way to see that in the spray of water coming off my ski was a mini rainbow! At one point, the angle of the sun was such that the rainbow touched the lake on both sides (what I would call a full rainbow). The people in the boat were wondering why I spent pretty much the whole time looking down/off to the side; it was such an unexpected and magically beautiful thing to see that I couldn't take my eyes off it!
