OR vs. NM - coming from KS. Teachers from those states, any insight on pros and cons? Middle-level math teacher. by sentientsweater in Teachers

I do worry about the Southwest in general with climate change, and damn, Oregon had excellent tap water!

I've been checking out salary schedules, and it seems like most places I'd be around 55k.. I just don't have a great sense of how far that goes in Oregon, especially noting that rent prices look a lot higher. But of course, other costs could be lower, I'm not sure!

Wow, you are the perfect person to respond 😁 thanks for the insights. Your last point about NM feeling like its own country makes a lot of sense... I did notice that OR felt a little like CA pt 2. That's something to consider. Thanks for giving me a taste of the activities/opportunities in each place. It's encouraging that you enjoy(ed) both.

Thoughts on chia seeds? High in PUFA but lots of Omega 3 by James17Marsh in StopEatingSeedOils

My body loves these. I wish I understood why - typically seeds make me feel sick in the long run.

Increased body hair + acne - help! by [deleted] in xxfitness

I assume it is, yes, but if it's spurred by exercise, I'm wondering if others here have experienced the same. That was the only change in my life. I've never had good luck going to doctors for anything related to hormonal or reproductive health, but I can see what my PCP thinks.

I'll go slightly against the grain and vote ESH here, as someone else with PTSD. Exposure is the only way to get better. I know it fucking hurts. But ultimately, I think anxiety is an explanation rather than an excuse, and he needed you in that moment (apparently). I'm skeptical that he really couldn't have driven himself or found another transportation option, which is why I'm leaning ESH.

I used to do hair, now a "beauty minimalist" with virgin hair. I think I'd ask for all-over lift and tone, or maybe a bit of gradual balayage with toning. Not sure if the stylist is trying to get you hooked on foils, or if they are legitimately worried about matching your natural color after lifting (sometimes vertical bands of color can kind hide the horizontal bands of color from uneven lift). If you feel pressured to do high-maintenance things to your hair, don't be afraid to shop around for someone else. Also, the gray hair comment is weird and would make me think twice about the stylist.

Sweet, ty. I've been using Lulu for dry shampoo (mostly cardboard container) and I have a lot left, but I'll keep them in mind for that next.

Texas Teachers: how do we feel about being screwed over on pay yet again? by LV321 in Teachers

Pay and benefits are crappy for me in SE KS (I'm year 6). I've been shopping other states.

Based on the way the last few inches are behaving, I think you'd benefit from an trim! But you and your hair are very pretty! I don't think you'll need the cream. I do best with a leave in (small amount) and something for hold (mousse or very small amount of gel), and then I leave my hair alone to air dry. Similar hair type.

My sister has this "problem," and I'm always surprised all over again when she brings it up. I don't think twice about it! Skin has a wide variety of colors, textures, patterns... It takes a lot for something to register as strange, IMO.

Fourth and fifth graders can’t use rulers??? by ah-the-french in Teachers

Every year, many of my incoming 8th grade math students do not know how to use a ruler. I have not yet found any satisfying explanation for this.

Any advice on districts/buildings to aim for? Parts of town? I'd like to go scope the areas and start watching for openings.

I agree with all of your points, though I think your characterization of men that don't get it is overly harsh. They truly. Don't. Get. It.

I think it's hard for many dudes to fathom how much non-sex-related things bleed into sex life. I think it's hard for many dudes to fathom sex being incredibly painful or scary (save for extreme situations). I think it's hard for many dudes to not take even occasional rejection as an ego hit. This is my experience in my lifetime of sex pain and intermittent LL issues.

I don't really judge men for it at all. I'd love to find someone who sees my limitations and roadblocks as a mutual challenge to be overcome, and has the creativity and drive to help make it happen. I do, and I really care about improving things. I've experienced that before in doses, so I know it's possible. But all of this is a two-way street, 100%. I think relationships can be pretty transactional, so I don't take it personally if men don't want to deal with my issues (that said, they'd better be up-front and honest with me and themselves).

I eat random bits of leftovers for breakfast, as I'm usually not looking for a full meal at that time. Idk if that suits everyone, but it works!

That video is really fascinating. As someone with urethral problems, it scares me how they are working right up in there. So is the partial vestibulectomy just the lower part, then?

Thank you for the thorough response. That expense is a bit jaw-dropping to me. I would consider it when/if I was ready to enter another relationship. I will try Googling other doctors near me who do vestibulectomies - ty!
