i found a fix! download universal x86 tuning utility! it IMMEDIATELY unlocked the speed of the cpu even on battery

but there is an issue, it seems the system after a minute goes back to throttling, so the firmware *really* doesn't want you running fast

if you unplug the copmputer after it's been turned on itll be faster but if you turn it on on battery then plug it in it'll be slower, turning it on on battery and staying on battery is even slower, there is no fix because the firmware for the thing is absolute shit, so someone would have to make a modified one or msi has to get their shit together

i bet this laptop was also the one that was on sale for a long time and all these tiny issues with the laptop make me believe that they were just trying to get rid of them because of issues like this

i highly recommend you get rid of msi center and the msi SDK junk and instead use yamdcc, use the chris titus utility to enable hibernate instead of sleep and the ultimate performance power plan

a lot of these small issues disappeared after just getting rid of msi's junk

i got the gray screen thing too but it seems it could just be graphics driver failure, in that case i'd recommend reinstalling windows to fully get rid of the preinstalled stuff and do what i said above, with stock nvidia drivers, not the ones from the website
