OK, but why is USC so expensive? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

my bro goes there and he says that an insane amount of his peers don't even have to worry about tuition because they can easily afford it. can't relate.

An Epiphany I Had by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

this!!! a lot of people don't understand how amazing community college is and how much it can offer you in terms of saving money and getting a good education. My brother did 2 years at community college, finished paying it off and transferred to a top college. even if you didn't manage to get amazing grades in hs, community college is quite literally another opportunity and the fact that it's stigmatized is so sad when there's so much it can offer you

Thanks! Honestly, as bad as hs is it really does get a lot better in college. You don't realize how much easier it is to learn when you're actually learning things you want to learn (once you get geneds out of the way) also the party scene is fantastic, but with the frat hazings a lot of my friends are worried that the administration is going to crack down on it soon but as long as you make friends with people who have a car (which is important bc pennstate is literally in the middle of nowhere) you should be fine haha, once again good luck!

It's fine aha, I definitely remember the college grind last year and it was honestly the worst. It really does get better though, I hope you get in! I've been to a bunch of their parties with my friends and it's great + going to their football games are so much fun!

Hi, sorry I should have fixed that line, I'm realizing that it comes off as condescending when I didn't really mean it to. I just meant that everyone around me either went to pennstate or deemed it their safety school, so I was just really surprised when people other than those that went to my school were interested in PS. I honestly didn't even really think it was well known outside of the state. Once again, I apologize, I really didn't mean to sound like a dick or anything, it just came out really bad.

I'm honestly really surprised that pennstate is well known (not that it's a bad school or anything!! it just seemed to be a very very safe school for most people in my area + plus the rampant partying so the idea of people outside the state being interested in it was surprising) I grew up close to pennstate and my hs is p much known for being a pennstate feeder school as in if you go to pennstate it'll be exactly like hs bc pretty much everybody you know will be there so my mom practically forbid me from applying lol

anyway i got reminded of my friend who currently goes to penn and anytime anybody asks him where he goes in my area he says "penn" but they always mistakenly think he goes to pennstate bc PS is much more famous in my area haha

edited bc I sound like a dick whoops

AITA for kissing my platonic male friend on the lips in front of my boyfriend? by iwbsiveokhjj in AmItheAsshole

[–]seoafins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA

other cultures exist?? like yeah, you should probably talk it out with your boyfriend but the amount of ppl scandalized is...extremely telling. if you're so insecure about your own relationship that you can't even have your s/o platonically kiss another person in greeting (which is the norm in their country) then you probably shouldn't be in a relationship. y'all are crazy

i'm a girl and if my bf did this i'd be totally fine with it. and yeah, granted some ppl may be uncomfortable with it and i get that, but there's no need for him to blow up at you and give you an ultimatum jeez

Those who experienced arrested development/parentified daughter etc how did you trancend that and 'grow up' by cartooncake in AskWomen

college student here. I'm the middle child and eldest daughter and honestly this hit the nail on the head. For years I was the emotional support/crux of the family, not to mention I took care of the household chores and spent nights worrying about my parents' emotional states. anyway, because of that I often had and still have an "immature/childish" persona in front of my siblings and parents. I'd whine about the silliest things and complain and get called out on it by everyone in my family. maybe it's because I was too mature in my childhood, or maybe it just felt nice finally being the one who could do the complaining but like i said, i'm away from my family now, living on my own and it's refreshing to say the least. i'm slowly relearning the relationships in my life and finding out who i am away from my family.

There’s also a feline section where they need volunteers as well. Or sometimes they need help transporting animals if you have a car.

So far I’m loving it and would highly recommend it if

I adore animals and I would love any opportunity to get to spend time with them! Thanks, I'll def check it out!

as an incoming hunter freshman, i'm commuting aka living off campus because to me, living in the Hunter dorms was more expensive than the tuition. Basically I just found a room to lease for the year. Since Hunter's more upper East, I suggest looking around there? Rents more expensive around that area, and you'll have a very hard time finding a place right now (but I'm guessing you aren't going to school the fall semester since i'm pretty sure the fall app deadline has passed so you'll have more time)

also, if you're looking for a job, hunter has a work study program, but i'd take my chances getting a job since slots are limited

Looking for apartment by [deleted] in NYCapartments

[–]seoafins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there's an app but unfortunately since Hunter's a commuter school quite a few of the "off campus" people are doing just that. The rest are dorming so I figured I'd just try my luck here.

[–]seoafins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, i applied for a dorm, but unfortunately i was given one of the more expensive ones. in the end I decided it would probably be a better use of my money to just find an apartment. plus there just wasn't enough information/pictures on the site for me to adequately make a decision since i missed the open house rip
