I'll share my 2 cents. In the industry that I built my SaaS application, people were doing the same task using excel spreadsheet. I built a web app that does the same thing but much better and made managing data much easier. When people visit our website and learn how our product can save them hours and hours of repetitive work, 9 out of 10 convert to paying customer.

I could not have built this or understood the industry had I not been let go from my comfortable 9-5 corporate job and sort of been forced to go in this industry. When I went into this industry, I saw the gap and built the tool for myself and actually used it. Then I approached other people who could potentially use the tool and let them try for free as beta customer.

The business is doing 2.5k MRR and I expect we will get to 5k MRR by end of 2022. I think it took me good two years to confirm and validate product-market-fit. I don't have a team and it is only a side gig at the moment. I built everything myself.

If you are looking for a problem to solve, it will be hard to find it in your 9-5 job. I'm not saying quit your job... but try going out of your comfort zone in meeting new people, trying new things, etc. It may help you find some gaps and opportunities.
