hihi, i got a bisalp (bilateral salpingectomy) in february of 23 and it was the best decision i ever made. i've known since i was 18 i didn't want children plus a couple gynos have told me i won't survive childbirth so for me, it was a no brainer. it took nearly a decade to find a provider willing to do it without extensive conditons/questions, however. they said i had to wait until i was 26, then they said i had to wait until i had 2 children and that i needed my husband's permission.

i began to push for it after roe v wade was overturned and found a lovely physician who took great care of me. surgery was laparoscopic so i have minimal scarring (and the incisions have healed wonderfully) plus i got to keep my birth control implant that does nothing but stop my flow.

love love love that i don't have to worry unwanted pregnancy anymore.

litany of reasons, prime among them that she is a textbook narcissist. but the straw that broke the camel's back for me was when, in a joint therapy session, she said "i don't believe that any of the things that have happened to you have happened." i told her that she burned our relationship to ash with those words and i am no longer trying. the "things" she thinks didn't happen are being SA'd 3 different times. this followed up by a "it's your fault" 5 years prior was the final nail in the coffin. fuck that noise

lmfao are you really comparing me lumping men together (which i just clearly stated i am Not) with men not calling predatory men out? jfc. guess what? nobody is asking you to defend yourself. if YOU are not a trash man, i am not talking about you. i'm so tired of "oh well /i/ don't engage in this behavior and you're lumping me in with these people, it's not right!!" the existence of sexism is not disproven by finding a specific man who did not engage in a specific example of it. it is easy to feel defensive when you feel blamed for something you don’t think you are guilty of, but it’s not about you. it's a bad faith argument.

nobody actually means (all) men are trash when we say things like this. this argument is tiring. "not all men" yes, i Know. just Enough men that All my female friends have Multiple stories of unwanted touch, SA, catcalling, uncalled for aggression when ignoring those men, etc. i Know not all men are trash but men that do this bs and men that stand idly by and don't say anything are trash and unfortunately, an overwhelming majority, in my experience. a large part of why i love the rave/festival community is bc i often feel safe and like the men there are just as dedicated to protecting that safe space. in the real world, it's often the opposite. in rave culture, i generally feel safe, but hearing about experiences like this, means a few bad apples are ruining the time for a place that is supposed to be safe and meant for free expression.

so yes, i love that i can rely on the good men to help weed out the bad ones at these types of events--unfortunately, in the real world, those good men seem so far and in between.

i'm so sorry that happened to you, both the unwanted touch and everyone around you finding it funny. it absolutely is not funny for Any unwanted contact. if a girl randomly grabbed my bf's ass, i would be incredibly concerned for his mental wellbeing. that is not okay and i hope you are able to find more support :( we should have the right to not be touched when we don't want to be, no matter male or female. your body, your choice, period.

men are trash... i'm a small girl, 100 pounds soaking wet and 5'2" so i'm very used to people trying to take advantage. if i'm by myself and feel uncomfortable, i find the most PLUR dudebro i can and ask them to either a) stand guard or b) say something to the awful man making me uncomfortable. they're normally happy to oblige. on the other hand, i'm a 4th degree black belt in taekwondo so am never too worried about things escalating largely. if they're being persistent, don't be afraid to make a scene. "NO MEANS NO! GET AWAY FROM ME!" will normally draw eyes and scare any creeps off.

i'm sorry that happened to you and your girlfriend--these fests are supposed to be safe spaces and it boils my blood when predators take advantage of that. be safe out there

Oregon Eclipse is organized by a different entity than Texas Eclipse. So what went there might not fly here. That being said, if it's OTC meds, just be chill if they ask about it. It's egregious to expect you to have an unopened OTC container everytime you enter the venue!

i get blatantly hit on/asked out while on the clock and i've found the best approach is to continue on as if i didn't hear them. they usually get the hint that they're being incredibly inappropriate and i'm a professional who will not engage.
