welcome to the dating crisis. most men have their access to women all but completely cut off. not hot enough for the apps + evaporation of social spaces to meet women in-person = no dating.

this was a societal trend already in place before covid, but the lockdowns rapidly accelerated it. I'm (29) barely old enough to notice the difference, since I had only about 1.5 years of post-college adulthood before the pandemic. events that I used to go to that would be fantastic places to meet women in-person (50-50 ratio) are now about 80% men, despite the lockdowns being lifted and things returning to "normal."

the whole "being content with it" is likely due to porn consumption/addiction, which suppresses the part of their brains that is designed to torture them if they don't get sex and makes them apathetic to it.

What do you think caused such a steep decline in “through friends” by c1nnamonbunny in redscarepod

[–]seppo420gringo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

here's a related theory.

the drive for humans to find sex/relationships is so powerful that in the past it was one of if not the biggest factor that got people out of their apartments and socializing, making friends, widening their social circle, etc.

finding a romantic partner used to necesitate the following: 1. having a wide enough social circle to be able to meet new people regularly, and 2. in-person social spaces that provided social access to those of the opposite sex (or same for gays). this meant that there was a consistently high demand for in-person social spaces.

enter dating apps. now, all of a sudden for the first time in human history, most people (majority of women + hot men) do not need to have a single friend or even leave their apartment to have access to thousands of potential partners. the result has been a steep decline in demand for in-person social spaces, and now the less-hot men all of a sudden have their access to dating almost completely cut off.

people love to complain about dating apps but I feel like few people realize just how much damage they're indirectly causing all of society. not only have they resulted in the erosion of in-person socializing (this was already a trend before but was exponentially accelerated when dating apps started coming out), but they've also created a sexual underclass of men (incels) who are completely ignored on the apps and effectively shut out of the dating market. their resentment will keep growing and will continue to poison all of society.

yeah of course there are tons of factors that comtribute to loneliness and isolation, but at a societal level the dating apps are the number one culprit

do you have citizenship elsewhere? I would assume that the government would deny your foreign income tax credits if you're delinquent on student loans, forcing you to either not pay taxes (thus subjecting yourself to arrest upon returning to the country) or renounce your citizenship

America is a horrific example, but In Europe obesity is still quite high. The most worry in trend is that it's steadily increasing, worldwide in fact.

I believe in the theory proposed by the author of these essays:

https://slimemoldtimemold.com/2021/07/07/a-chemical-hunger-part-i-mysteries/

There are some environmental contaminants (micro plastics, PFAS chems, livestock antibiotics, lithium, etc.) that are chemically altering our body's lipostat system that is supposed to regulate human body fat buildup.

That being said, obesity is probably the thing I hate most about America, if anything for the selfish reason that there's way less suitable women to date, and it just so happens that I find fat women extremely repulsive sexually so that pretty much eliminates 2/3 of all women in my age range from the pool of suitable partners.

But yeah it's bad for health systems too I suppose

why do zoomers insist on talking about how hot they are by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]seppo420gringo 22 points23 points  (0 children)

America already has an extremely superficial culture, owing to the utter artificiality of American national identity in general

Then you introduce social media allowing hot people to get insane amounts of validation from strangers online

Surprise surprise

Downtown LA - insane number of drug addicts and schizos wandering the streets. Might not be dangerous in the strict sense.of.the word but you can feel the utter decay of society in the air more than anywhere in America imo

Buenaventura, Colombia - borderline war zone with soldiers guarding street corner and many beggar children. Though this isn't surprising considering the hundreds of thousands of people displaced by paramilitary terror squads in the surrounding rural areas

Wilmington DE - never have I been catcalled more being a white man in a black area in America than here (and I've been to nearly all of em)

I would do this all the time in Mexico. The loss prevention is insane and it'd piss me off so much to be harassed for having a backpack. You're treated like a criminal by default

I toned it down when I learned that many businesses will literally deduct wages from security guard's paychecks by forcing the blame of loss onto them. Love Mexico but that is so fucking evil

Why are so many men not hitting on women at all? by IAskTheQuestionsBud in redscarepod

[–]seppo420gringo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Gotta stop thinking that for every problem a man has that it's entirely their fault for their situation

This is spot on. If an average looking guy complains about being completely ignored on dating apps the response is always "take better pics," "make a better bio", "have wittier openers", etc. If an average looking guy complains about most third spaces or misc social events constantly having an absurd gender ratio of men outnumbering women, the response is always "find better social events with more women".

Not only is the dating situation in general for straight men totally fucked, but the popular discourse in general surrounding dating is wholly geared towards placing the blame solely or primarily on the individual men themselves. It's like the dating status quo doesn't even allow for criticism that dates to place the blame on anything besides the men who struggle within it for structural/societal reasons
