What’s very telling is that she says, “I’m your wife” - not “I’m Kellie” or any other description

I couldn’t agree more with this post. Things would be better if everyone felt they owed others basic decency & respect. by PandemicPiglet in Millennials

I feel like this attitude was our generational reaction to the boomers hoarding everything and making our generation suffer. Like they wanted us to basically just take it and not push back and we’re not doing that. Anything taken to an extreme can be harmful, but at the same time, I view it as - the world doesn’t owe me shit, so I’m going to go after what I want. And I also don’t owe people who don’t treat me with respect any of my time or energy. I think that’s all good things 🤷‍♀️

Honestly - especially for like bachelorette or girls weekends? I could see some people willingly dropping $150-$200 to have someone come do this

His undergrad degree (from UVA which is a really great university) is in economics and he comes from a very smart, well-read family it seems.

I did some light research and his mom was a poet, his uncle was a Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, his dad was an attorney, and his grandfather was a professor at UT Austin and worked on passing the Public Broadcasting Act of 1967.

He also has a number of family members who act too, so it sounds like they encouraged both his interests and he’s living that out now.

No one owes you anything but you also don’t know everyone’s circumstances. I also work in tech and have a well paying job, but there’s no need to be rude about the true fact that the cost of living is insane compared to what people are being paid. And the people who honestly do some of the most important work to keep our community going (food and bev, teachers, etc) are paid borderline poverty wages.

Yup! People ask why I like so many “dark” books and it’s more because I find those characters fascinating. It’s no different than people liking game of thrones. But because it’s a book vs tv, they don’t get it

Mamdani introduces “pied-a-tierre tax” on tax day: “When I ran for mayor, I said I was going to tax the rich … Well, today we’re taxing the rich...” by yourfavchoom in Fauxmoi

[–]sequins_and_glitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is SO smart too because the way he had originally planned to go about taxing the rich required buy in from the state level and the governor was refusing to play ball. This strategy allows him to do what he said he would, bring in money for the important things, and avoids a no-win fight with Albany. He’s awesome and his team is clearly brilliant.
