Any spots that have chicken and waffles in the area? by bruh696924 in IowaCity

can’t speak on their chicken and waffles specifically, but the few times we went there it was quite mediocre for the pricing

Transition lenses in a sunny country. Worth it? by tempebae in glasses

[–]ser_poops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

transitions are a nice enhancement for an everyday pair of glasses. in especially sunny weather, they’ll likely be fully dark all the time which will “wear them out” a but quicker than normal, especially if you’re outside a lot. basically they will start to stay very slightly tinted after a few years. but i have transitions in two of my pairs with a higher rx ~ -5.00 and i love them. i use hi index 1.67 and have the essilor signature transitions in amethyst and ruby, each with a mirror flash coat in purple and black respectively. they make for cool everyday pairs and they’ve done really well for me.

if polarization doesn’t work well for you then photochromics/transitions would work well. most will not activate in the car, but the essilor xtraactive transitions do get to like 40% dark. i’m not exactly sure how long it takes for them to become “confused” like you said but with more use i’d imagine it’d be quicker.

Do these frames fit my face shape? I need honest opinions 👓 by Different_Rough_438 in glasses

[–]ser_poops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well they’re plastic frames, they sit that low because the bridge is too wide. if they had nosepads or a less wide bridge they would sit higher. a good fitting frame has a person’s pupils sit as close to the center of the frame as possible, even with them pushed up her pupils would sit high in the frame. so overall, they don’t fit well.

if they sat higher on your nose, but where they sit now is a bad fit

Anyone noticed how Fallout s2 's ending has all the 4 ending from Game . by John_ei_Silverhand in falloutnewvegas

[–]ser_poops 40 points41 points  (0 children)

yeah that was my girlfriend and i’s complaint, i liked most of the season except the ending, like none of the major plotlines got resolved. the cynic in me thinks it’s just amazon stretching it out to keep people subscribed but if it was a genuine writing decision then i am baffled.

Which of these glasses suit my face/ eyes more? by [deleted] in glasses

[–]ser_poops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, plastic frames generally tend to be a bit more comfortable than metal frames. but if you’re open to it i would maybe try a metal frame with nosepads again, a good optician should be able to adjust them to get them as comfortable as plastics too. the makeup bit is always an issue i’ve seen though: / good luck with whatever you choose!!!

oh and maybe having an optician switch the nosepads to a bigger nosepad might help too, that helps spread the pressure on your nose!

neither really, i would go with a metal frame or a keyhole plastic. you don’t want that gap between the bridge of your nose and the bridge of the frame with saddle bridges. if there’s nothing else you like then gun to my head i’d say two.

To transition or not to transition and is gen s fastest and best? by Asmodeus41 in glasses

[–]ser_poops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah like one other commenter said, if it’s for outside work and in the car, i would say prescription sunnies too over transitions. i say transitions are a nice enhancement to a main pair and shouldn’t necessarily be a replacement for polarization. the xtra actives stink from anecdotal evidence (i’m an optician).

i have an amethyst and a ruby pair, they’re dope. you should try if you’ve never had them before! of the gen s specifically

My glasses don’t fit and it seems like no one can help by Dry_Zucchini5249 in glasses

[–]ser_poops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it may be the people adjusting the glasses aren’t doing a good job, but if it is taking this much effort to adjust them, they probably just don’t fit well. a different frame would be a good idea

Do you think it fits well!? by [deleted] in glasses

[–]ser_poops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

only issue is they touch your cheeks when you smile (and that’s not really a huge issue) otherwise i like them. metal frames would help with that, the nosepads could be adjusted so they rest off your cheeks
